Andi

My name is Andromeda Aster. My name means galaxy star because my parents hate me. Not really, my parents are active and present figures in my life as much as that pisses me off sometimes.

I'm your regular nerd, getting a bit too close to kicking assholes in the face, with great grades and one friend.

There we go, introductions complete.

I have two siblings who I love very much, Altair and Aylin because our parents hate us. We all have space-related names, their names mean star star because it does. It's the best and worst thing ever, so we have nicknames.

I'm Andi. Altair's, Al and Aylin is Aylin.

I'm sitting at my desk doing homework like a good daughter. It's biology homework.

Today I was sitting, minding my own business being late in biology. I was going to sit next to Beatrice Brooks.

Then someone stole the seat I was gonna sit in. Which is very rude, she also glared at me. Whatever.

Aylin is yelling something about imperialism and Altair is yelling something about how achieving equal rights isn't that difficult. I agree of course.

But I'm doing homework. Trying to ace my next maths test over here you little shits! I scowl at them as they start yelling about climate change. Mum decides now is when you show up and walks into the lounge room.

Her arms are crossed and she's doing her signature judgmental look. "Al, Aylin," she says and my siblings thankfully shut up, I snicker and Mum turns to me. "Andi."

"Mum," I respond.

Mum just rolls her eyes and walks out, Al and Aylin are now discussing what an idiot Donald Trump is. Which I respect immensely.

I work on my maths problem and do it quickly enough, I slam the textbook shut to show off to everyone that I finished and they didn't. "You done?" Aylin says in my direction.

"Done and dusted," I respond and Aylin nods before turning back to Al. I stomp up the stairs to my bedroom, I have my own room and have since I was about twelve. I am so thankful for it, sharing is awful.

School. School is a place.

I go there, I do the work they require of me and I annoy the crap out of my idiot of a best friend. Stella, her actual name is Estelle which is also a star name. Sue me, space names are cool.

Apart from Luna, it's overused and cheesy. The only good person with the name Luna is Luna Lovegood.

My loving parents cook dinner a bit too late for it to be considered dinner, I drag myself to bed and am asleep basically as soon as I hit the pillow.

It's a gift of mine, I once fell asleep with Love Shack was screaming on a speaker next to me.

I wake up as quickly I fell asleep and groan my way out of bed, I eventually get it together and find my uniform. It's a charming uniform really, stockings, a skirt, a button-up shirt, a tie and a jumper.

It's so warm literally always, I shrug on the jumper and put on the trusty boots I wear. You're not supposed to wear them, but I figure that if we're wearing a uniform I want something to make myself different.

I attempt to put half of my hair into a curly thing. I quickly glance at it in the mirror. It's curly and black and thick. Which is a whole ass mood.

I trudge down the stairs, my Mum hands me a muffin which I eat wordlessly. "Catching the train?" I nod.
