*Before the chapter starts, I'd really recommend watching this video. It's so heartfelt, beautiful and basically inspired this whole chapter. (It's a beautiful song as well)
Thalia's POV
What does it mean to be human? Does it mean to love so deeply you can form a crack in your own heart? Does it mean to rise up after being shoved onto the dirt? Does it mean to be normal? What is normal? I've asked these questions my whole life. I'd never realised how much one day can change your life. One person.
There has never really been a purpose to my life. Never been a plan. And as I stared at the beautiful girl next to me I wondered if any of the last few days have been real. Music rung in my ears as the next song played. I watched her calm features, her closed eyes. I wondered what she was dreaming about.
All we do is hide away... All we do is, All we do is hide away.
The lyrics of the song sunk in and I was instantly full of regret. I'd let her go. I'd left her to believe she wasn't loved. I buried my feelings deep so I didn't have to feel as if I wasn't good enough. I was selfish.
All we do is chase the day... All we do is, all we do is chase the day.
I wanted today to be amazing. I wanted to spend every second of it by her side. But what would come after? What if I hurt her? What if I was too late?
All we do is lie and wait... All we do is, all we do is lie and wait.
I wanted to be honest. I wanted to tell her how I really felt but maybe that's something I was still finding hard to admit to myself. She had given me so much of her yet she gave no complaint that I'd hidden away. She had watered and nurtured her confidence while I'd let mine shrivel. I didn't know what love is. I'd never felt it. To me, it has always been broken and tainted. She was neither. She was perfect.
I've been upside down. I don't wanna be the right way round.
Every moment I spent with her was perfect. Like we were living in our own ecstasy. But what will happen when we woke up from this dream? What will happen when my house gets inspected? Will I get taken away? No dream lasts forever.
Can't find paradise on the ground...
I felt her head lean on my shoulder and turned to watch her. She was so calm and beautiful when she sleeps. Will I stand I chance with her when reality finally hits us?
All we do is play it safe.
Was I wasting the time we have together?
All we do is live inside a cage.
I'd locked away my feelings for so long. I'd hurt her so much.
"I'm sorry," I whispered.

Mel's POV
"I'm sorry," she whispered as I began to stir from my sleep. I kept my eyes locked shut, confused as to what she means, "I didn't mean to hurt you. I also didn't mean to fall for you." She chuckled a little and I felt myself smile. Maybe she did feel the same.
The last thing I remembered was her hauling me onto a train and then talking a little before falling asleep. I waited a few minutes before flickering my eyes open. The aching in my head had dulled and as I lifted my head from her shoulder my head felt much lighter. She smiled at me as I woke and I instantly melted at the look on her face. I reached over and pulled out her headphones,
"Hiya." I grinned at her and rested my head back on her shoulder.
"Don't get too comfortable, the train stops in 5 minutes," She said smiling at my puzzled look.
"How long was I sleeping?!" I exclaimed looking at my watch. An hour and a half. I'd slept for an hour and a half.

We get off to be greeted with a small town. It's so beautiful, not over-crowed, almost like a small village. Ivy creeping over the stone walls around the small cottages and patches of colour where various flowers grew. It was like a fairytale. We explored for a bit, exchanging stories of our best childhood memories. Eventually, we came across a small, desolate pebble beach beside a little wooden dock.
"I swear, Mom walked away for a second and when she came back I'd eaten it all!"
"Everything?!"
"The whole bowl of cake batter. And I had half of it dripping down my face!" I said, hooking my arm around Thalia's,
"You must have been such a cute kid, I just wish I'd had a childhood like that," She said sadly.
"Hey," I said turning to face her and placing my hands on her neck, "You may not have the best childhood memories, but we aren't adults yet and we can still create the happiest memories of your life right here."
"Swim with me." She pointed to the sea in which we had been walking down the bank.
"Now?"
"You said it. Let's make some memories- right here." She smiled at me and offered her hand. If it was anyone else- I'd never had taken it. If it was the day before- I wouldn't have even thought about it. But something that day just made me take her hand. And as we walked up to the water's edge, I looked into her eyes. That beautiful sea of green. Even as she tore away from my gaze, I didn't regret my decision for even a moment. She took off her shoes and socks placing them at the side of the bank, then she jumped and crystal clear water splashed up at me.
"Come on!" She yelled, her shirt clinging to her chest. I watched the water tendrils run slowly down each strand of her hair- she's so beautiful. I smiled down at her, taking off my shoes and placing them alongside hers. I jumped in purposely splashing her as I did so.
"Hey!" She sent a wall of water back at me and I turned away, still laughing. I could feel the sun hitting my face as each drop of water subsides beside me. I could see her silhouette in front of the sun and as I gazed at the picturesque scene, I accidentally lost my footing, slipping up on the rocks. Thalia helped me up as I struggled in the water. I felt her hand wrap around my waist. She noticed me flinching,
"So I don't lose you again." And I had the tiniest feeling she wasn't just talking about me slipping up.
"You won't lose me," I whispered into space between us. I felt my heart quicken its pace as she moved her face closer to mine, "I didn't mean to fall for you either." She flinched fitting the pieces together in her head. She looked up into my eyes questioningly. I moved closer so our noses were touching. A small drop of water ran down the arc of her nose. I looked into her eyes. This time I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted to know she feels the same. She leaned in her lips centimeters from mine. My heart clenched and I just wanted to get lost in this moment. I wanted to stay here forever.
Then our lips met.
