Thalia's POV
"I missed you..." I murmured into my mom's shoulder. I thought I wasn't ready... but to be honest, nothing felt safer than being back in her arms. I love her and that was something that would never go away.
"Hey, darling..." She said as she pulled away. She placed both of her hands on my cheeks.
"You look... so happy, so full of light. I'm sorry I kept you in that house..." My mother said frantically, eager to apologise for my whole life. I just shook my head, grinning at her.
"Those things are what have made me the person I am today... and none of them are your fault..." I explained this to her as it was also something I'd learnt a while back. Pain is a gift and although it may not feel like it at the time, it is and will always change you. Sometimes for the good, others for the bad but regardless, without pain, we would never know what it is like to be the victim and without that, we'd always be the perpetrator. Pain shapes us into people, empathy is what ties us all together. The ability to sympathise with someone's pain, to feel bad for them- that is what stops pain. Melody was that person for me and in a way, I was also that person for her.
My mom wiped the tears from her eyes slowly,
"I'm so proud of the woman that you've become... I love you." I immediately pulled her into another embrace at these words, crying into her shoulder
"I love you too, mom," I said softly and just held on to her tighter. This was my mom and I was never letting her go again. Ever.
"Ok, ok, don't let me hold you up, go have the best night of your lives..." She said, this time addressing everyone in the room. Everyone smiled and yet, no one moved. No one except my girlfriend.
"Before that, I feel I should introduce myself... I'm Melody, Thalia's girlfriend..." She said, making my heart burst into a million colours. She's honestly the cutest. My mother did nothing but smile, embracing my girl in a hug.
Mel's POV
"Thank you for all that you've done for my little girl... you've shown her how to feel love again and how much she really means and I thank you greatly for that..." Thalia's mom whispered in my ear as she hugged me. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting the hug but she was much more accommodating than Thalia had made her out to be. It should have been weird or awkward but it just... wasn't.
"She did all of the same things for me..." I said back, quiet enough that my girlfriend couldn't hear it and we finally parted, smiling at each other.
"Okay guys, you gotta go or you'll be late!" Chimed my mother, ushering us all out quickly. Everyone piled out of the door, splitting into the two cars we had decided, May driving one and Taylor, the other. And before I could follow my girlfriend into May's car my mother stopped me, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead.
"I'm so proud of you... You're so much more... confident and, happy. Have a wonderful time my love," She said, making me smile up at her.
"I love you so much..."

Prom may have just been a couple of decorations in a school gym, but it was the people I was with that made it so damn special. Kye met us there, a girl on his shoulder. I think her name was Raegan; I kind of remembered the back of her head from chemistry.
"Hey..." he murmured, "This is Rae..." He trailed off as I raised my eyebrows and gave me an 'I'll tell you later' look. I just grinned. Then, Taylor sauntered over having gone to check out the snacks with Brie.
