DARCY'S POV

"I'm so sorr-" I began as my phone started ringing.

"I'LL FIND THE WORDS TO SAYYYY!" It sang, causing the restaurant, filled mostly with women twice our age, to look at us.

Their eyes widened as they saw resemblance of us and our parents. Leo, having obviously experienced this before (as well as I) grabbed my hand and yanked me out of the coffee shop.

I answered the phone. "Hello? Oh, hi. Yes. Yeah. No, I do! Of course."

Leo coughed quietly.

"Huh? Nobody. Nope, I'm alone. YES MOM. Sure. I'll be there soon. Okay, loveyoubye."

"You have to go?" Leo pouted.

"Yeah, um, monthly shopping spree with my mom.."

"Oh.." He looked disappointed.

"Wait." I stuck my hand out in front of me.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" He asked.

"Meet me at the mall in an hour, by Forever 21. With your mom. Okay?"

"Of course." He nodded, and we went off in separate directions.

***Thirty-five minutes later, Darcy's POV***

I was walking hurriedly towards the food court, trying not to look as nervous as I was.

Maybe it doesn't seem like a big deal..but it was.

To be blunt, it was like this: Two girls, best friends forever, married famous boy band singers. Those two singers got in a fight. They were ripped apart. Never spoke for seventeen years. 'Suddenly' they're supposed to run into each other, and be perfectly okay with it. Um what.

I was constantly checking my watch while waiting in line at Chik-Fil-A in the food court. "Are you okay?" My mom finally asked.

"Yeah, just really impatient. This line moves soo slow."

"Um, Darcy, honey, we've been here for three minutes.."

"Right..um-" But luckily the cashier hollered 'next!', cutting me off.

"Okay, we need a large fry and two chicken sandwiches. Oh, and two lemonades."

"Small, Medium, or Large?"

"Medium."

"Okay, that'll be 17.46. Out of twenty? Two dollars and fifty four cents is your change. Your food will be ready shortly."

"Okay." I cut in front of my mom, grabbing the drinks while she waited for the food.

About ten minutes later, with ten minutes before we had to be by Forever21, I stood up, with a half eaten chicken sandwich in my hand. "Let's go!"

"Darcy, you're not even finished.."

"I'll be done when I get to the trash can, duh!"

"Okay, but-"

"Mommmmmmaaaaa come on!"

"Darcy, what are you in such a hurry for!"

"There's a sale at Forever 21. On bracelets. You know, me and bracelets.. *insert awkward laugh here*.."

"Okay.." We threw our food away and i speed-walked towards the stairs.

"Aw, Darcy, looky there! They have mini microphone statues..You know your father would like those..Let's get one!"

"Mom, the-"

"The sale will still be there in five minutes, Darcy..Look, you can even get their name engraved in it!"

"Not the sale, Mom. won't that remind him of..you know..? That'll hurt him. Let's not."

"You're right. Maybe in another twenty years.."

"Okay. Let's go." I glanced at my watch.

Two minutes to get to the other side of the mall.

"Fine, I-" My mom started, but I grabbed her hand and yanked her down the stairs, walking hurriedly towards the door. I was getting close, when my phone started blaring 'Moments' again.

"Hello?" I stopped.

"Hi, it's me, Leo."

"Le-" I started, then realizing my mom was right there, changed my words. "ater. Later I will finish..What do you want." I rolled my eyes to my mom, signaling that it was a homework question.

She nodded.

"Keep walking, Darcy. But drop something to make your mom look down. I'll bump into y'all. It'll work-"

"But, I-"

"Just do it!"

"Whoops." I dropped my phone under my mother's shoe, which she stomped on with her heel.

"Darcy!" She exclaimed, kneeling to pick up her phone.

I looked up, and couldn't find Leo anywhere.

"Come on, Mom!" I heard Leo's familiar voice, sending chills down my spine.

Wait, what. I never said that, okay? No. That didn't happen. It was um the air conditioner. You know, malls can be cold and um..yeah it gave me the chills yeah it was the air not Leo psh..um..

I whirled around on instinct and crashed into Leo, my mom standing up abruptly with my phone in hand and squealing again at the sight of my bumping into a stranger.

That wasn't a stranger.

But she doesn't need to know.

"Uh, hi." I managed with a subtle smile, giving the impression that I'd just fallen in love with a stranger on the spot. You know, like in the movies.

We looked over at our moms, who were stuttering.

"Uh, I, um.."

"Yeah, we uh-"

"We're just, you know-"

"How are-"

"Fine and.."

"After all these years.."

"Mom, who is this?" Leo asked casually.

"Oh, Leo, this is um..This is um, my old..friend? Hillary. Yeah, Hillary."

Leo looked shocked (but he wasn't, trust me.) "Hillary, you mean the one-"

"Yes, Leo." His mom blinked slowly, exhaling loudly. "Well, is this um, Darcy?" She looked out of breath.

"Yes, I'm Darcy." I reached out to shake her hand and she awkwardly accepted.

I leaned over to Leo. "Leo, how did you get my number?" I didn't move my lips.

"Don't leave your phone unattended. I picked it up when you fell on the floor."

"So you decided to put your number in my phone? How did you know we were gonna become, erm, friends.. If that's what you call us..?"

"Sometimes.." He finally looked towards me. "You just know."
