Anne screamed in pain as blood pooled around her. she could hear people shuffling around her and calling out too her but it all faded into blurry figures and muffled words.

all Anne remembered is one minutes she was walking down the street with the grocery bags and next she was falling onto the floor, stomach first.

she couldn't breathe. all she could think about was her baby bump. the baby. what if she....what if she has...

she couldn't bear the thought.

she felt tears fall quickly and sharply down her freckled face as she looked at the blood around her.

she's not okay. the baby. blood.

she heard someone say the word ambulance and she felt herself be lifted slightly as someone attempted to converse with her. it didn't sink in.

it all went black.

"THE BABY!!!"

she screamed in panic as she launched into a sitting position in her bed. she felt Gilbert immediately jolt to life beside her as she was shaking in fear from that horrific dream.

"Anne, Anne. sweetheart tell me what's wrong." Gilbert pulled her to his chest as she sobbed. he gently caressed her arm, attempting to soothe her.

"i- i- oh Gilbert it was horrible, so horrible." Anne wept into his chest.

he kissed the top of her hair as tears glossed his eyes. he hated seeing the love of his life in pain.

"you're okay darling, you're okay." he murmured into her hair as she took deep breaths.

"i dreamed i had a miscarriage and lost the baby." Anne blubbered as looked at Gilbert, tears pooling into her ocean blue eyes.

"it was just a dream Anne, it was just a dream. you're safe now." he caresses her cheek as they touched foreheads.

when morning came Anne awoke to Gilbert's concerned face. she had almost forgotten about last nights traumatic events. she placed a soft kiss on his lips as she smiled delicately.

"mornin'"
"are you feeling already Anne?" Gilbert's musky morning voice sent shivers through her body. her memories of last night flooded back.

she sighed in attempt to calm down.

"i feel better. yes i'm completely shaken up but it's nothing to fear as it was just a dream. i highly doubt anything would actually happen."

they both smiled weakly at each other before flopping back in bed as they stared at the ceiling, both of them internally fretting and hoping that they wouldn't ever have to experience the pain of child loss.
