Inside one of the rooms, Taylor watched as Charlie held the radio. Tiffany stood in the corner, while Simon tended to David in another room.
Charlie: Hello? Hello, can anyone hear me?
He took his hand off of the button but heard only static.
Charlie: Hello? S.O.S. We need help, is anyone there?
More static. They looked at each other anxiously but not surprised at the lack of reply.
Charlie: Hello, can anyone hear me?
Suddenly the static turned into something else, inaudible words. They both looked intently at the radio, willing the words to repeat. The static returned.
Charlie: Hello, we can't hear you, we need help – over.
Resistor: He--- where --- you –r...
Charlie: Can you hear us? We're at 1919 Broadwood, we need help – over.
Resistor: We hear.... Repeat.... Over.
Charlie: We're at 1919 Broadwood, we need help, over.
Resistor: ...send ...one... not sure..... ..er
Charlie: We have someone severely injured – he's lost a lot of blood – over.
Resistor: We'll try.... Over
Charlie and Taylor looked at each other.
Taylor: You think they're going to send someone?
Charlie: I don't know.
Tiffany: I hope so. I can't stand any of you right now.
Charlie: Tiff, just shut up, okay?
Tiffany: Asshole.
Taylor: I'm going to tell Simon we got through.
She left the room and found Simon sitting by David's bed, reading.
Taylor: How's he doing?
Simon: The same, always the same. Still hasn't said anything but I think he's just really tired.
Taylor: Yeah, I guess. Listen, we got something on the radio. We couldn't hear very well, but I think someone might be coming – at least that's sort of what it sounded like. We told them where we are, so hopefully they got it.
Simon: So there is still life out there – at least that's reassuring.
Taylor: Yeah. Thanks for looking after him, I can take over.
Simon: When was the last time you slept?
Taylor: I don't even remember.
Simon: You should try to get some sleep – I'm fine here with my book. We'll get you if anything changes.
Taylor: You sure?
Simon: I never lie.
With a final look at David, she smiled and made her way to a room on the upper floor of the house. Before reaching it, she saw Charlie standing in the study staring out the window. She walked in just past the doorframe.
Taylor: Hey, I just want to say thanks for doing that. We might actually find civilization again.
Charlie: I didn't do anything; it's David who got it working.
Taylor: Yeah, well, thanks anyways.
She started to turn around to leave the room.
Charlie: Hey, wait.
