I kept my head low as I rushed past the kind of busy pavement with my hood up trying to avoid any form of contact in fear of being called out. That old lady definitely knew something about me. And I didn't want anyone else to know anything as well. I had to keep my powers in control, if I wanted to be free.
So much for wanting to have a normal life.
After I had reached a reasonable distance from the grocery store I sat on a bench on the side of the pavement and took out the cookie yogurt my stomach was craving for. I peeled of the seal and was ready to devour the entire cup, when I realized that I did not have a spoon to eat with. I cursed myself for being an idiot as I thought of a solution for the problem. I looked around the place for any shop that could possibly have a spoon, but to no avail.
I groaned in dismay and then thought that no one was going to see me eating, so why not. I shrugged my shoulders and lifted up the cup to my mouth and let half of the content fall into my open wide mouth. I moaned as the creamy and delicious goodness came in contact with my taste buds. I absolutely loved cookie yogurt.
I quickly emptied the entire container into my mouth and picked up the bag containing the rest of the yogurt and put it inside my back pack. I slung the pack back onto my shoulders and lifted myself from the bench. I looked around to see if anyone had seen me, to be gifted with relief of no one.
The time was 6:20 am and I decided on going to the cafe which was closed earlier. It would have probably been open at this time since it was breakfast time for some of the folks out there.
I trudged back to the direction I was walking in before and took a long breath to calm myself down. So far, I hadn't had the best first day in the outside. I had expected to be greeted by every person I walked past and make couple of besties for life on my first day.
Kind of exaggerated, but you get my point. I hadn't expected to break a fridge door in a grocery store and make a person faint due to my presence. Not the ideal first day in my opinion. But who knows what else is going to happen this day, since it hadn't even started yet.
My feet had landed me to the entrance of a café and I turned my head upwards to see the large sign on top of the building which read, Ace cafe . A sign on the door of the place which read closed before was now saying open with a drawing of a coffee cup steaming with hot coffee in the side of the sign.
I took a deep breath and stepped inside, with a feeling of déjà vu as a bell rung above the door and I being enveloped with the sudden warmth of the shop. I looked to the left of the shop and noticed a large counter type thing with some people standing in front of it and telling something to the person on the other side of the counter. It was relatively loud in there to what I was used to and I swallowed tightly.
It was a little intimidating to be in an enclosed place with at least ten people, because I was not used to more than two. I took a deep breath again to calm my nerves down since they were all over the freaking place. I felt really anxious at that moment and I didn't know what to do. Suck it up Olivia, if you are going to be living in this world full of millions of people you'll have to adjust with a few.
I nodded to myself and stepped inside fully and letting the door close behind me. one of the employees, I assumed since they were on the other side of the counter and people looked like they were ordering their drinks and stuff I don't freaking know, the only knowledge I have about this crap is from novels and that to thriller novels. I only know what employee is because I read a story about a serial killer looking for hi next victim and that victim happened to work at a coffee shop and they were on the other side of the counter taking orders from some customers and bringing them drinks. That's how I know about it.
