"Honey, it's time to wake up..." A gentle voice spoke in a quiet tone, as if not to startle me awake. I instantly recognized the voice to be that of mom's. It was always so soothing to me whenever she spoke in a quiet tone, it actually made me want to speak even more. Maybe I felt this way since she spoke to me like this whenever I was nervous about something...it'd calm me down a lot and still does. "Lukah sweetie...wake up," Her hand gently wraps around my shoulder and gives me a tiny shake.
A tiny sigh escaped my mouth as my eyes tiredly fluttered open to a squint as I bring my head up from it's resting position against the window. The light was bearing in and made it difficult for my eyes to adjust to such harsh lighting. I wanted to close my eyes again and be engulfed by darkness. I knew I couldn't do that though...mom would just keep pressing to wake me up. I rub the sleep out of my eyes before glancing over to the driver's seat where mom sat, her purple eyes glowing brightly with a small smile taking over her lips. I could practically see the light radiating off of her as she beamed with happiness. I couldn't help but to return the same smile back. She had that type of contagious smile. For a moment, I actually didn't understand why she was this happy, but then it hit me hard...we've arrived.
I hesitantly look out the window and my eyes instantly widened. We were sitting in the driveway of possibly the biggest house I've ever seen. Scratch that, it wasn't just a house- it was a freaking mansion! I really wasn't expecting something like this, that's for sure. I mean...they couldn't possibly live in a place like this, right? Maybe this is just the wrong house and they're a couple of houses down the street or something like that. I take a glance out my window, expecting to see a neighbor's house close by, but it was actually the complete opposite of that. The next house, mansion I should say, was in place of where five other normal sized houses would normally be and it's just as big as this one! What kind of rich kid neighborhood was this? I mean...I guess the neighborhood of Alphas who obviously went somewhere in life.
Maybe it wasn't completely absurd that Akillina and her family lived in a place like this. I mean...I've never met her before so I wouldn't have guessed something like this. Mom only told me a little bit about Akillina and the couple of things she never went into detail with was what kind of house she lived in or what her occupation was. Of course mom said that she lived in California, but that was all she told me before we moved. I would've appreciated more information about Akillina before we willingly go and live with her. I mean...what if she's the type of person to just use Omegas and toss them to the side? Or let other Alphas use them? It wouldn't only be bad for mom, it would be bad for me too! Of course mom is more important than I am, but I would be willingly walking into the situation which is just dumb. I'm clearly overthinking this. Akillina couldn't be that type of person. Right?
I deviated from my thoughts and came back to reality. I really couldn't believe my mother was going to be marrying someone who seemed like a millionaire. I didn't really approve of her relationship, as I have mentioned before. I know it would've been better if I actually met this women before hand, but if mom is happy and she can support mom...then I guess I'm fine with it. Well...maybe not fine with it, I would just have to learn how to deal with it for the rest of my life. If the two are actually Mates I can't be the one to tell them they can't be together. That would be an absolutely terrible thing to do.
Mom giggled before getting out of the car. I followed after her, hesitantly opening the door and sliding out carefully, my eyes darting around my new surroundings. The first thing I noticed was that this house had a ton of property to it and the yard was green and healthy. If I had to guess, these people had others to tend to the yard and make it look visually appealing. As for how big the house looks on the outside, it seems absolutely huge and there are probably tons of long hallways I'll get lost in. I wonder if it's as beautiful on the inside as it is outside.
