️SPOILERISH FOR SEASON 2 FINALE⚠️

Rachel brings Gar back

This is my own interpretation/version of what happened in the finale in regards to Rachel breaking Gar's mind control. I actually wrote this before the finale aired.

The carnival lights flickered as the green tiger slowly stalked towards her. "Gar?" she called out to him. Low growls echoed through the air as the tiger continued to move. "This isn't you Gar! I know you're still in there!" She shouted. The growls turned into a roar as the tiger lunged at her. "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" Rachel screamed, throwing her hands out. Tendrils of black and purple goo entangled the tiger, Rachel's eyes glowing a deep red. "Let me in Gar." She spoke calmly. The tiger fought back, rolling and thrashing about. "Let me in. let me in. let me in. let me in. let me in. let me in." Rachel closed her eyes continuing to repeat the phrase........

Rachel gasped as she opened her eyes. She was....in an arcade? "He must've built this up to cope with everything that's happened to him." She thought to herself. "Gar?" She called out as she walked through rows of game cabinets. She stopped for a moment, hearing what sounded like bells in the distance. Following the sound, she found him. He was playing the Twilight Zone pinball machine, the same one from Scooter's where they met. "Gar?" She spoke softly. "Rachel!" He smiled, turning to face her. She paused for a moment, studying him. Her brow furrowed. "What did they do to you?" She frowned. "What do you mean?" He asked confused. "You don't remember?" She asked. "Remember what?" He questioned. "Cadmus?! The tower being attacked?! You and conner being brainwashed?!" She raised her voice in frustration. "Wha...I.....no....no no NO! NGH!" He winced, grabbing at his head.

The ground trembled beneath their feet as the arcade began to crumble. Violin music filled the empty space. Gar began snarling, his eyes turned green. "This isn't real! You have to fight it Gar!" Rachel yelled. "I.....c-can't" He choked out. "Yes you can! I know you can!" Rachel screamed, running towards him. She held his head between her hands and began chanting, "It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's not rea-" The music stopped.

Gar went limp beneath her. "Gar?!" She gasped, catching him. Tears streamed down his cheeks, "They made me hurt people." He whispered. "I know, but I'm gonna fix it. We're gonna fix it. Together." She reassured him. "Okay." He nodded, wiping his eyes. Rachel nodded back. "I want you to close your eyes, and think of a happy memory." She smiled softly. He nodded once more and closed his eyes. Everything began spinning. Memories flashing like strobe lights.

Then it stopped.

"Does it hurt? When you transform?" "It feels like electricity....." "You wanna run! You wanna jump! You wanna break shit!" *laughter* "So...roar" "ROAR!" *laughter*

His mind began to tremble again. She cursed under her breath. "Listen to me! You're stronger than them Gar! I know you can do this! You have to keep fighting!" She pleaded. But the trembling continued. She panicked. How the fuck is she supposed get him to breakthrough this? She thought back for a moment. Roar. That's it. "You have to let it out Gar! So roar! Roar! ROAR!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

The trembling died down and a piercing roar tore through the air.

"Rachel?" Gar croaked as his eyes blinked open. "Gar?" Rachel knelt down beside him. They stared at eachother for a moment. Silent. "D-did I hurt you?" He frowned. She shook her head. *Crash* "We gotta move." Rachel exclaimed, pulling him to his feet........
