No spoilers this time, just a fanon about Gar's New Year's resolution!

Gar always describes his powers as being able to turn into a tiger. Not because he genuinely thinks that's the only thing he can turn into, but because that's what he's comfortable with. Dr. Caulder Studied him a lot when he lived at the manor and concluded the reason for Gar only turning into a tiger was psychological.

On New Years Eve, Gar decided his resolution would be to learn more about his powers.

"Gar, are you okay? You've been in here for over an hour." Rachel asked, walking over to him. "Yeah. Hey, is it possible to google search superpowers?" Gar questioned. "What? Why?" Rachel replied, confused. "Its just....I haven't fully explored my powers beyond turning into a tiger and I don't want to be known as tiger boy forever." Gar explained. "I don't think you can google search your powers Gar." Rachel giggled. Gar sighed, burying his face into his arms. "Hey, you'll figure this out." Rachel reassured him. "How?!" Gar raised his voice in frustration. "Well, you already know how they work. Remember, you told me Dr. Caulder thought you could unzip your DNA and rearrange it. All you have to do is figure out how to rearrange it into something else." Rachel expained. "That's it! Thanks Rach!" Gar exclaimed, sprinting out of the tech room. "You're welcome!" Rachel yelled after him.

Gar printed out pictures of about thirty different animals and put them up all over the training room. "Okay, let's get started!" Gar spoke to himself. He spent the next three hours trying everything he could think of to trigger a new transformation. He studied the pictures and even made weird animal noises to no avail. "Ugh, this is useless!" Gar sighed, flopping on to the mat. "No luck?" Rachel questioned, taking a seat next to him. "No. And I've tried everything!" Gar exclaimed in frustration. "Does that include staring at pictures of animals?" Rachel asked, holding up a picture of a dolphin. "I thought studying them might trigger something." Gar explained. "Maybe you should try focusing on one animal." Rachel suggested. "Can't hurt to try." Gar sat up and began sifting through the pictures. He stopped when he came across one of a peregrine falcon.

Rachel gathered up the rest of the pictures and left. Gar took a deep breath and cleared his mind, focusing on the image before him. "Be the bird. Be the bird. Be the bird. Be the bird." He silently chanted to himself. He spread his arms out like wings as he breathed steadily. He felt the familiar sensation of electricity flow through his body. The sounds of his body changing and morphing filled the room. And then......"CAAAAAAAAAW!" A bird cry echoed from his mouth. The rest of the team came rushing in, awestruck at the sight before them. A green bird was flying around the training room. "He did it." Rachel smiled. Gar flew around once more before changing back. "Ha! I did it! I actually did it!" Gar exclaimed. "Gar!" Rachel looked away. "Right." Gar scrambled to dress himself. "See, I knew you'd figure it out." Rachel smiled. "You were right. Thanks for not letting me give up." Gar smiled back. Rachel nodded. "Guess I can't call you tiger boy anymore." Rose smirked. Gar smiled proudly. "I guess you better come up with a new one then." Dick suggested. "Got any ideas?" Rachel asked. "A few."
