CHAPTER ELEVENA FEW MONTHS LATER
EVERYTHING HAD FALLEN into place. Marcus and Alex were a happy couple. Hal had stayed with Mason in the hospital until he was sure the boy wasn't going to die. And Estelle and Thalia... Estelle and Thalia were a beautiful thing.
When the videos went up online, fame for the group had skyrocketed. Their lives were changing.
And Scott, in the meantime, had fallen back into his regular routine. Until a certain blonde stopped him in the hall. "Scott", Tiffany called out. "Can we talk?"
"You didn't wanna talk back then", Scott pointed out.
"Hey, Scott, great game last week!"
"Evening, ladies!", Scott greeted in response. He turned back to Tiffany with crossed arms. "What is it, Tiff?"
"You aren't still mad at me, right?", the girl scoffed. "I just—"
"Whatever it is: no."
She looked appalled. "Since when do you say no to me, Scott Reynolds?" Scott didn't have to answer. His sister handled that for him. Tiffany's face paled. She hadn't been expecting to see Thalia.
"Since right now", Thalia hummed. "Listen here, Malibu Barbie, you're in the presence of a lioness. And you may think you're a big cat now, but you're still just a kitten. Now scram, before I sink my claws into that pretty little face of yours." She turned her attention towards her grit her with a grin. "We're all going out for lunch. Go get your jacket."
Scott raised his palms. "Yes, ma'am."
It was a short trip to his dorm, and it barely took him any time to grab what he needed. What he didn't expect though was to open the door on his way out and and find a blonde boy with oddly colored eyes leaning against his doorframe. The boy was bleeding from his side, his breathing labored. "Are you Scott Reynolds?"
Scott furrowed his brows in confusion. "Yes?"
"I—" But he collapsed before he could finish his sentence.
You have got to be kidding him.
Scott quickly scrambled forward to catch him. Making sure no one else saw him, he pulled him inside. With little struggle, thank God for weight training, he helped the stranger onto his bed. If his mom hadn't requested that he not have a roommate after freshman year, Scott was sure whoever he'd had would be pissed at the many weird things that went on. Oh well. He disappeared into the bathroom to grab the first aid kit he kept in there. ( He had nowhere else to put it. )
"Pretty sure this is the perviest thing I've ever done", Scott mumbled around the needle tucked between his teeth. With the only pair of scissors he had, he began cutting away the male's shirt. The gray material fell away. Dark runes covered the pale boy's chiseled chest. Scott tilted his head. "Well, you're certainly not a spirit. What are you?" He made quick work of cleaning up and stitching the boy's wound, placing a large bandage across it. He wished Thalia were there, she had far better people skills than he did. Medical skills too.
His phone began to ring, and he worried it would awake the beautiful stranger. Fortunately, he didn't stir. Scott quickly took out his phone to see who was calling. Daphne. "Thank God you called, I have a situation", he said quickly, going to stand near the sink.
Daphne turned towards her own bed, where a curly haired boy was curled up like a puppy. A similar situation to Scott's, yet so different all the same when you got to understand what was happening. "Yeah... me too", she said slowly. "Can we meet at the library?"
"On my way." When Scott hung up the phone, he was surprised to see the taller boy standing behind him. "Can you not?", he asked, jumping back.
The boy raised his brows, seemingly unfazed. "You undressed me?"
"You were bleeding — a thank you would be nice", he mumbled. "Who are you? You know my name, but I don't know yours."
"I'm Kane Ambrose", he said simply. "I'm you and Thalia's guardian angel."
"You're our what now?"
"Your guardian, your protector", he reiterated. "I'm the son of the angel Anabiel."
"Well, now I'm just offended", Scott scoffed. The boy looked confused. "Your mother is the angel sent to cure stupidity", Scott explained.
"Well—"
"Ouch", Scott grumbled. "Okay, why are you here then?"
"Because you and your friends keep fucking up shit!", the boy, Kane, exclaimed throwing his arms up. "There's a natural order around here, and you all keep messing with it. And do you know who gets in trouble when you two do dumb shit? Me!"
"No need to get testy", Scott huffed. "Sit down before you fall down. Who—" He was once again interrupted by his phone. He figured it would be Daphne calling back to see what was taking him so long, but was surprised to see it was Jem. "Yello?"
"I don't care what you're doing right now, pack your shit. We're going to Beijing."
