The soft glow of street lights shimmer and shatter in the deluge of rain that bombarded the roof of the bus, the gentle sway of the bus rocked me to a state of sleepy awareness. I am a 17 year old student being sent away to spent time with a part of my family who have been seen less than Bigfoot, my mother's sister and her bat crap crazy husband but even the thought of a warm cabin couldn't shake the uneven feeling that had settled in the base of my stomach.

The bus jolted suddenly and I looked into the forest that surrounded me like some sort of natural prison, that's when I saw 2 glowing red orbs floating high above the canopy of trees and a flash of lightning brought a fresh stab of panic as a silhouette of a monstrous 20 foot tall skeleton was attached to the orbs as if it was the eyes but as soon as I blinked they were gone like it was just a shimmer of light hitting the window at the right angle, was I dreaming? or was there something unnatural about this place that I was being forced to live in. But then my world went black and I remember nothing else.

I wake up with light streaming through a window and showing a dusty shower caused by the breeze from the open window. I try to remember what happened last night but the only thing that my brain could muster up was the orbs, glowing red pits that burned as red as the fires from the Lazarus pit.

I swing my legs off the bed and my entire feels oddly heavy like it was liquid lead streaming through my veins. I force myself to stumble towards the bathroom and opens it with a swift motion and moves myself to look at my reflection, where my own scared and tired reflection stares back with the empty stare of a bad nights sleep. I reach for my toothbrush but then realise that I haven't unpacked so I walk back to the bed and sits on the edge resisting the urge to go back to sleep as I pull out a toothbrush and a red shirt and battered old work Jean's and I start my morning routine as if everything was normal but was it? I wasn't sure but the uneasy feeling hasn't left my stomach.

That uneasy feeling remained the entire day until I sat at lunchtime and stared into the emerald green expanse of forest that ensnared the town with its flowing green tendrils, there was a feeling of pure helplessness and entrapment  because of the secrets contained inside this dense green prison. Suddenly a shadow dashed between the gap between the gap in the trees that made the driveway, it looked almost wolf like but it moved to fast to get anything more than a blurry shadow.

My life was never weird before I came here, my daily routine was almost like clockwork but here time seems different. Slower almost.
