The pressure of rain hits the window on the early morning. Gumball wakes, expecting a death laser on his face, but is awoken by the soft drops against the glass panes. The room is still fairly dark, the blinds being closed and the clouds being thick. Gumball sits up in his bed, rubbing his eyes and patting down his hair. The sound of food being cooked downstairs was softly resonating throughout the house. He looks towards his phone, remembering the fact he had turned it off. He sighs, and goes to get his phone. He puts on his clothes, being the same as his usual clothes. He puts his phone in his back pocket, and heads downstairs. The rain hits the house softly, giving Gumball a sense of grounding, especially about the night prior. He sits down next to his dad, leaning against him, who is drawing some sort of video game character.
"How's it going, kiddo?" He asks, dropping his pencil and looking at him. He looks back, smiling.
"Good," He says, getting his phone and turning it on. Darwin comes down, yawning and cracking his knuckles. Darwin sits next to him and smiles.
"You feeling better?" Darwin asks. Gumball smiles, and looks back at the ground.
"Yeah, I guess," He says, before having oatmeal slammed in front of them, with Nicole having a giant smile on her face. Gumball looks up at her, confused.
"Hurry up and eat! I'm driving you to school!" Nicole says, with a grin of a baby on her face. Gumball smiles at this sight. He knew she had the same depression issues as him. He hopes he will be as happy as her in his future. The two eat their blueberry flavoured oatmeal as fast as they can, and grab their bags. Gumball notices his phone has turned on. He didn't bother checking his messages, he didn't want to ruin the mood. He sits in the back seat behind Nicole, and puts his phone in his book bag. Darwin sits down next to him, and the two drop their book bags onto the floor. Nicole starts heading to their school. Gumball starts to think what he'll do for school. He knows he'll probably have to talk to HDG about what happened. This makes Gumball's mood drop significantly. He sighs, and rests his head on the window. His mom playing a song she's been playing ever since he was about four, the music giving Gumball a sense of nostalgia. They pull up to the school, and the two get out. Nicole waves bye at them, and starts to head to work. The two go into the school, loud with groups of friends chatting in the halls. Gumball felt as if he was having a damned heart attack, though. He didn't want to admit he was afraid to see his own boyfriend, but he was afraid to see his own boyfriend. Maybe he can hang out in the bathroom until class starts, and once the hallways are empty, he can walk to class. Or, he can just skip the class in general. He decides with the first option.
"Hey, I gotta go the bathroom, I'll meet up with you later," Gumball says, heading off on his own way. He heads to the bathroom, and gets his phone out and turns on some music. "4am" by Girl in Red, being by far one of his songs. (All you asshats gotta listen to that song its on SoundCloud and it's AMAZING!!!) He walks into the bathroom, and takes out one of his earbuds.
"Gumball?" He hears a voice. He looks up slightly, and he sees HDG's hoodie. That's when he knew he fucked up. HDG was wearing the same hoodie yesterday, and was clinging his sleeves. He felt himself choke up.
"Y-Yeah...?" Gumball says, not looking up. He felt like shit. He knew this was gonna escalate poorly. HDG was not feeling any better than he did. His cuts still hurt, even though he didn't do any last night.
"Did you read my message?" He says, rubbing the back of his head. Gumball looks at the floor quickly. Gumball wanted to bawl his eyes out already. He pauses his music and wraps his earbuds around his phone.
"N-No..." Gumball says, anxiously. The tension between the two was so high it could break glass. Both of them were grossly uncomfortable. Then, the bell rings and the tension breaks.
