There isn't very much sound coming from anywhere right now. A slight breeze, but nothing else. HDG stirs silently, while Gumball looks at him in concern. Gumball opens his mouth to say something, but nothing really comes out.
"What happened?" HDG asks, breaking the silence. Yeah, he told him they fought, but HDG did not expect it was, well, a full blown fight. Gumball sighs, sitting down against the wall and on the gravel. His bag resides next to him, while he gets his phone out.
"So, I told you that we got into a fight. And you saw it. There isn't much to discus," he says. He plugs his earbuds into his phone, and plays the same old slightly edgy depressing music he always plays. He keeps one earbud out though, you know, if he wants to hear HDG's opinion.
"Yeah, but- what even caused any of this? Why did this happen??" HDG sputters out, spreading his arms in frustration and confusion. He suddenly closes off, sitting down across from Gumball. "Did I do something?" his eyes shift downward.
"No!" he exclaims. He notices his volume, and quiets down a bit. Better not be caught down here. "I just- she suddenly texted me and she started conflict. She couldn't get a hint." he says softly. HDG sighs. Another silence passes between them. HDG shuffles around with his own phone, while Gumball stays off of his. Gumball looks up at him, trying to scan his arms.
"Are you doing okay?" he asks, in another quiet tone. HDG stays quiet, again. Gumball scooches over to his side, HDG moving his arm between his chest and the knees he has up as sort of a mental shield. Gumball sighs. "Come on, hand." he says. HDG puts his arm down in reluctance. He in response, intertwined his hand with HDG's. HDG smiles a bit, becoming less tense. No reason to be tense around him. Bad idea.
"Is it okay if I see them?" Gumball softly says, staying where he is. Expectedly so, HDG gets tense all over again. Gumball feels this, and pretty much instantly feels bad.
"I-" HDG stutters, pretty much getting back into the state he was when he first got here. Gumball lets go and crosses his arms. "You don't have to. I just-" HDG suddenly gets up, grabs his bag, and starts to leave. Gumball stumbles his way up, and grabs HDG's arm. He immediately freezes. He does not turn around. Gumball lets go, and goes around HDG. He is absolutely bawling. He can barely breathe. Gumball starts to panic.
"Wait I- I'm so sorry HDG, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have asked, I-" "Stop." Gumball sees HDG's face. He does not look happy. Obviously, but there is a strange sense of anger in him. Something that terrified Gumball.
"HDG? Did I-" "Just stop. Please. Stop. Stop asking about my- my cuts. Please stop asking." HDG says quietly, yet sternly. "Do you think I don't already know how bad it is? How bad it is that I've had to resort to THIS?" He starts to yell. Gumball tears up, taken aback. He has never heard HDG raise his voice, let alone yell at him. HDG walks back into the small alleyway, his hands up against the back of his head. He blows off steam with his mouth, and turns around. Gumball is crying now. "I'm sorry."
"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!" HDG yells out, louder than the previous times. It makes Gumball jump, HDG taken aback by his own tone of voice. HDG leaves. He rushes past the building, finding the rock in the door. He kicks it out of the way, opening the heavy door. He leaves the rock there, a gut feeling knowing he is going to regret this much, much more later on. The best he can do is be considerate.
Gumball stands there, tears flowing from his eyes. Christ, how did this happen? How did he get into a fight with his ex-girlfriend and his boyfriend all in the same day? He wanted to scream, punch the wall, pull his hair out, anything. He just sat down against the same concrete wall and gravel ground. Knees up against his chest and his hands in his hair, he cries heavy alligator tears, grips at his own hair, and whimpers as the fast breathing leaves his mouth.
