"It's gone. Our baby's... Dead." I said not able to tear my eyes from the screen. I started to cry and Joe and Steven hugged me. I didn't even care that it hurt, our kid's dead.
"This isn't fair! What did we do wrong?" I screamed. Steven and Joe stood up wiping tears away. I never knew Joe could cry. He seemed so... Strong.
"I'm gonna.... go tell the others." Joe said walking out of the room. Steven sat on my bed, so I sat up.
"It almost happened... I was almost a father to another kid. Our kid." Steven said wiping away more tears.
I started to cry just thinking about it. He hugged me and I cried into his chest. I don't think he wanted me to, but I could here him crying.
We sat there just crying and hugging for a while, then the others came in.
"Oh my god! Sammi, Steven I'm so sorry!" Alyssa, Apryl, and Lindsea said coming over and squeezing me.
"Ow... Thanks..." I said falling back slowly onto the pillow.
"I'm so sorry!" Alyssa said and everyone took a step back and stared at me. It got really awkward after that. Nobody knew what to say so we just stared.
After a while I broke the silence.
"I'm going home. Today."
"How? Do you think they'll let you out?" Tom asked.
"They have to. I don't want to be here! It's a hospital not jail!"
A nurse walked in right when I was starting to stand up.
"What are you doing?" She yelled.
"Leaving! It's a few bruises and cuts, the baby's gone, I have nothing to lose!" I yelled back standing up but I fell down right away.
"Sammi!" Steven yelled and him and Joe came over and helped me up.
"And you still want to go?" the nurse asked.
"Yeah! I'll be fine." I said grabbing onto Steven. She looked around at everyone.
"Okay then... You can leave whenever you want." She said sounding defeated.
"Yay!" I screamed and hugged Steven.
"You got happy quick!" Joe laughed.
I walked over to him and smiled.
"What?" he smiled.
I leaned forward and hugged him.
"Thank you." I whispered.
"You're Welcome." he said resting his head on top of mine.
I couldn't wait to hear what Steven and Apryl would say.
