Chapter 6: Separation

I felt like falling. To be honest, I like the feeling. There is also a pain. I can't figure where. My whole body feels like it's in pain. My sense soon came to me, I could feel myself laying down, and it felt like I was moving. I was in a car. How did I get there? Did Eddie steal a car? Oh gosh I hope not.

Suddenly I sat up gasping. I looked around, and sure enough, I was in a car. But I looked to my right to see Eddie staring at me with a concerned look. I stared at him. "What?" I asked.

"...are you..ok?" The concerned look starting to vanish.

"I'm ok, but, whose driving? And how did I get here?" I looked past the drivers seat to see a blonde lady.

Eddie followed my gaze, "this is Anne. She's a friend of mine."

The woman looked at me through the rear view mirror, "nice to see you awake Amber!". I nodded awkwardly, I'm really not the type to make up conversation.

Awkward silence.

"So where are we going?" I asked after a while. I watched as Eddie and Anne exchanged looks. Oh no.

"We are taking you to the hospital. You had a pretty nasty blow to the head." Eddie finally spoke. I nodded, so that's why my head hurts so bad. Would this make concussion number four?

"And," Anne spoke, "We are going to find out what the heck is possessing Eddie." I looked at Eddie, his face was unreadable. I positioned myself to where my legs weren't stretched out, and looked out the window to the rainy streets.

The rest of the car ride was silent. Then my awkwardness started kicking in. I started humming this song in my head quietly. But the whole dang car was silent so everyone could hear. I immediately stopped. Then I started fiddling with my hands ( I guess I find them interesting...?). Then I finally gave up. "You know, you never answered my question." I said to Eddie.

"What question?" He asked puzzled. I looked at him. "How did I get here? What happened before I got here?" I saw something click within that brain of his.

"Oh. Yeah, after we beat up all those men, we found one of the men dragging you to the door. We caught him, Venom was planning on eating him but Annie arrived and, yeah. I brought you to her car, and now here we are." I was silent for a moment. I nodded.

"What would those men want with me?" I asked Eddie. He only shook his head. I looked back to the window. The silence in this car was growing intense. I began counting cars. How far away is this-

"We're here!" Anne said with fake cheerfulness, must have been awkward for her as well. We pulled into the huge parking lot. The hospital was three stories high. I shuttered. I have always hated hospitals.

We drove around the parking lot until we found an empty space since this place was packed. Anne parked the car. We all got out and made our way to the entrance.

As we got nearer I saw some people with sad expressions, some happy, some blank. Oh dear Lord help us all. As we entered, the scent of cleanness hit me. I hated the smell. Everything was too white and perfect, covering up the lies it's buried. Anne walked up to the front desk, " We are here to see Dan Lewis." The receptionist lady looked at all of us before typing something in her computer then taking a clipboard and handing to Anne, " Name and age, I need your I.D." Anne did what she was told, then handed the clip board back to the lady. Anne gave the lady her I.D. With one glance she handed it back to Anne. " You'll find him in room 31, first floor." Anne nodded and began making her way down the hall, we followed.

As we made our way down the long white hallways, I watched as bustling doctors and nurses go from room to room. Just watching them makes me nervous. I hope we don't stay here long. Then Anne came to a stop at room 31 and went in, Eddie following her, before I went in, I had this terrible feeling that I was being watched. It could've been my imagination, I only wished it was. Then I entered the room, this Dan guy was nowhere to be found. So I just took a seat by the door, Eddie took the seat beside me, fiddling with his hands. I just awkwardly patted him on the back.

A few minutes passed by before a tall man in a doctors coat and a clipboard enters. Eddie stands up, Anne walks up to greet him. Eddie stands in front of the two. "I uh, got your results back." Dan says as he pulls them up on his computer. I stand up to look for myself. "It says here, that your heart has attributes." I stood there silently.

"C-an you fix it?" Eddie asks, his voice getting slightly higher and shakier. I waited for Dan's response.

"No, I have never seen anything like this before!" He acted more surprised than all of us. I stood back, registering what I was hearing. Venom was killing Eddie. And I was actually starting to like him too, creepy face and all.

"No this can't be happening." Eddie said, stepping back. I now stood beside him, "you're using him up huh?" Anne said, I'm guessing to Venom. Then Dan walked up to Eddie, " We don't have much time-" Before I knew it, Dan was no longer on the ground. Oh no! He was being held by...Eddie? No wait, that's Venom's hand. OH JEEZ VENOM IS KILLING DAN!

"EDDIE STOP!" I practically launched myself at them, trying to tear the two..three apart. "Eddie please let go!" I screamed.

"I-I can't!" Suddenly I heard a sound, starting low and quiet, then loud and high pitched. "No! Don't do that!" Then Eddie started...spasming? And screaming, I also saw Venom. I stared as this was happening. I watched as a black blob shot out of Eddie's chest, landing on the wall in front of it. Anne and Dan rushed over to Eddie, pulling him out of the MRI room, then Anne clicked a key on the keyboard, the glass doors close. The blob jumps onto the doors, it moves in a kinda unnatural way.

Eddie walks up to the glass doors. "You were killing me? You were killing me?! What happened to we? Huh? What happened to we?! We're done." I almost feel bad for Venom. But he was killing my friend, hopefully future dad.

"And where do you think you're going?" Anne asks while Eddie is leaving the room. "Anywhere other than here." He replies.

I just stare at the blob on the glass, then I finally register what occurred. Oh shoot. I brush past Anne and Dan who are arguing. I run into the hallway outside the door, I look left and right before seeing Eddie by the elevators. "Hey! Eddie!" I yell in his direction. He looks at me. Then something terrible happens. Something gets shot in his chest, and he falls. I scream and start running down the hall. I watch as Bald Dude grabs Eddie by the ankles, dragging him into the elevator. I run faster. But as soon as I get there, the doors are already closed. "NO!" I scream and bang my fist on the metal doors. I feel worthless. I sigh and turn away from the elevator. But as I look down, I see a strange, small, fluffy dog. At first, I take it as a normal dog, but then I see it's eyes, and a strange film goes over them. And I know just where I have seen it before.

I reached down to pet it, and a black mass appears on my arm then disappears. "Hello Amber."
