Stray Cat

After a long day at work, I finally can go back home and rest my legs off these heels.

I work at a small company building as an accountant so its normal for me to go home this late. I live in a small apartment building on the 4th floor, adding more suffering to my feets.

Every morning I woke up at 6 am and use all of my time at work until 8 pm everyday. And I always sleep late every night with a cup of coffee as my only company in my small room.

And this cycle keep repeating it self for almost 2 years.

Last day at work before weekend, I finished my last page off paper and cleaned up my desk.

And as usual I'm always the only one left in this room.

"are you done yet?" the security guy called me with his flashlight go straight at my face.

"yes, I'll go home now."

"good, I need to lock this door." he said coldly with his careless signal to tell me I need to go out immediately.

I go out of the building immediately and leave the man to lock the door. I didn't blame him by acting coldly like that, living in this society somehow made you into this stressed adult, it also apply to me.

I walked my way back home with the street lights as my only friend in this road.

I almost zoned out but suddenly I heard a loud metal noise from the pile of garbage at the side of the road.

I didn't try to check at all, until I see a brown tail poked out under a big paint can.

Almost like my body moving on it's own, I hurriedly picked up the can, revealing a rather small cat covered in dirt and looking at me with it's big eyes.

I carefully picked them up and hugs them in my hands, I can't just leave a weak looking creature lost it's life in this mess.

But as fast I saved this cat, I still regretted it. What am I going to do with them? I can't be taking care of an animal with this suffocating schedule of mine.

I looked at the sleeping cat in my arms, they looks calm and purring while in their sleep.

But I need to take them to a bath before they can step into my house.

I sit on my bed in my room, and I put the cat outside in the livingroom because he wont go to sleep after i wash him.

And yes, I just realized its a male cat after i washed him. I actually surprised a small male cat like him didn't die in the alley after fighting with other alley cat.

But now I finally can sleep peacefully after his loud meowing stopped and I didn't hear anything anymore.

I closed my eyes and trying to sleep, but my anxiety kicked in, telling me something bad might happened to the cat, maybe there is a hole in the window and he jumped? Or maybe he went to the bathroom and drowned in the toilet? While my thought filled me, a loud sound of shattering glass come from my kitchen.

I jumped on my feet, thinking of the worst scenario that might happened with my heart beating like a train in full speed.

But for my surprise, a tall figure wrapped in a blanket that i put on the couch for the cat- wait where is the cat!?

I picked the nearest thing to me- a vase and hold it on my head, ready to throw it on the unknown man.

"WHO ARE YOU!?" i screamed loudly, alarmed the man and he jumped when our eyes met.

"YOU'RE AWAKE!?"

"WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE!?"

"WAIT! LET ME EXPLAIN!"

I didn't even hesitated and throws the vase at his direction, he quickly dodged my crouching, but he didn't stand back up, but somehow gone, leaving the blanket piled up.. Or so i thought.

The cat I saved before poked his head out of the blanket and meowed loudly at me.

Quickly I reach for the cat, suddenly forgetting the man I just see.

"oh my god, I thought you're gone.." I was about to wrapped the cat again in the blanket, until he hid himself in the blanket again and a weird thing grows in the blanket.

I stares blankly, ah, maybe I'm still dreaming and this is just a dream, because right now the cat I saved before is turned into a young man right in front of my eyes.

"do you believe me now?" the cat-man said carefully not to spooked me, but I just can't processing a thing.

Maybe from now on, my life will have a little change everyday.
