Too Afraid to Remember

Olivia was finding it even harder to remember, even simple things. Elliot came to pick her up and was preparing for what he'd say, since he knew she probably wouldn't remember him.

"Liv open up it's El!" he called and Olivia opened the door.

"Do I have work today?" she asked trying to think.

"No Huang wants to talk to you"

"Huang?"

"Your therapist"

"The guy who raped me"

"No the other one"

"Other one? So I'm so messed up I need two therapists?" she asked frustratedly and Elliot sighed he knew it would be a slow recovery.

"No you're just panicking you'll be fine and Simon said he'll be there" he said.

"Simon?"

"Your brother"

"Right OK Sammy got it"

"Simon"

"Your know what let's just go" Olivia said getting frustrated with herself.

"Well Olivia maybe you're too afraid to remember" Huang suggested.

"What is so scary that it'd make me forget my own brother?" he asked and George and Simon exchanged a look of worry.

"You didn't tell her-" Simon began but George stopped him.

"No"

"Didn't tell me what?" Olivia asked confused and concerned. "Didn't tell me what?" she asked again but she still got no reply.

"How about we start off with what you can remember" he said.

"I-I dunno" Olivia said in frustration.

"OK just calm down and start from the start" George said softly.

"OK. Well I know my name...my address...where I work"

"What about your childhood?"

"No." she said and George nodded.

"What about your colleagues? Do you remember them?"

"Yeah... Um... There's Fin, Nick, Don, Amanda..... John and..... Barba" she said and George knew she was struggling.

"OK and what about Elliot?"

"Elliot?"

"The man who brought you here"

"Oh...yeah...."

George was worried about Olivia, even her short-term memory was just as bad as her longterm. George called Simon back after the session to talk. "Simon...she's not improving and I don't think she will, her memory is deteriorating and I'm just worried she'll wake up one day not knowing who she is, she can barely piece it together now" he said sadly.

"What're you saying?" he asked shakily.

"I mean you're going to have to consider putting her into care"

"Care? Care! So you just sit there for an hour and ask her questions and you decide she needs care!"

"There are plenty of asylums that she could go to..."

"I'm not checking my sister into a hospital with a bunch of psychos!" he yelled walking out and slamming the door. Olivia and Elliot where still outside as Simon stormed out. "Come on Liv let's go" he said taking her hand and dragging her towards the door.

"Go where?" she asked and he sighed.

"As far away from here as possible" he said speeding up.

"Wow take it easy" Elliot said once he'd caught up to him.

"They want me to put Liv into care" he said shakily.

"Why?" Olivia asked pulling away from Simon.

"Because you're nor getting better" Simon sighed and turned his attention back to Elliot.

"El tell him he's being ridiculous, I can take care of myself I've done it all my life what's stopping me now? So I don't know everything I might not know that my mom is Serena or my dad was Joseph or that he raped her, or I mightn't know that we were partners for 12 years before you left and that I cried for days on end, and I mightn't even know that I've worked at SVU for 15 and a half years but that does not mean that I am not a grown woman who can take care of herself" she said not even realising all she'd remembered.

"Liv you remembered something!" Simon exclaimed hugging her.

"I did? I did! I remembered something .....wait what exactly did I remember?" she said and Simon sighed putting a hand to his head. He decided to leave, he wasn't ready to face this right now.

"Simon wait! Please don't go!" Olivia had called but he had already left.

"Don't worry about it he's just worried about you" he said putting an arm around her.

"I know but I don't want him to worry about me" she sighed.

"I know" Elliot said softly, guiding her to the car and dropping her home.
