Vasin's Barber Shop

I got dressed, closing my dresser to see Amber standing in the doorway.. She seemed a little sad for some reason. I squared down and placed a hand on the top of her head.

"What's wrong Amber?" I asked.

"I want Daddy time too!" She said pouting.

I then realized she must be talking about the fact that I spent the other day with Arach. I smiled and picked up Amber, letting her sit on my arm.

"Well... I'll tell you what little lady." I said booping Amber's nose, which caused her to giggle. "Why don't we go get groomed?"

Amber looked at me in confusion but I just laughed as I said, "You'll understand when we get there."

I grabbed my keys and my bag before walking towards the door.

"Where are you two off to?" I heard someone say behind us.

I looked back to see Cali standing there, her hands on her hips.

"I was taking Amber out for some Father/Daughter time since I spent time with Arach." I said smiling.

Cali looked me up and down and then asked, "What are you going to go do?"

"I was going to take both of us to a barber." I said smiling.

"Daddy Time!" Amber said happily.

Cali smiles at our daughter and said, "Just be careful in that steel trap you call a car."

"Hey! Don't talk about Danni like that!" I said defending my car.

I saw pure anger fill Cali's eyes and I just booked it out to the car. Didn't take time to put Amber in another seat. I sat her in my lap and peeled out of there. Once I thought we were safe, I pulled over and buckled Amber in the backseat. I was getting in when I saw something black running at us.

I then realized it was Cali when she yelled out, "Erick!!!"

I groaned as I hoped in the car and sped down the street. I ended up driving around town for about an hour before I lost Cali. We pulled into a barber that my family had trusted since we moved here.

I walked in and a familiar, deeply Russian accented voice said, "Hello! How can I help you today?"

"I don't know Vasin? How can you help me?" I said with a light chuckle.

A man turned around from doing something behind the counter.

He smiled at the sight of me and said, "Erick!!! My boy how have you been!?"

We gave each other a hug as I said, "U menya byla nasyshchennaya para mesyatsev drug."

(Above says, "I have had a very eventful past couple months old friend." In Russian)

"Aww! You're Russian has gotten better my boy!" Vasin said patting my back lightly.

That's when he noticed my daughter hiding behind me. He crouched down and asked, "And who might be young lady?"

Amber being the shy one she is, unlike her mother, backed away and hid behind me. I smiled and crouched down, sitting Amber on my knee.

"This little darling is my daughter Amber." I said patting Amber's head.

"So you finally tied the knot I see?" Vasin said laughing.

"Not yet old friend. But soon. I'm waiting until Kimihito has his wedding." I said lifting up Amber, letting her sit on my arm.

"I can't believe my boys are growin up so fast!" Vasin said tearing up a little.

We looked at each other for a second before bursting out laughing.

"So what can I do for you old friend?" Vasin asked throwing a barber apron over his shoulder.

"Well, this little one needs a good grooming..." I said showing him all the knots in her hair/fur.

Vasin's entire demeanor changed upon seeing my daughter's hair. He had me set Amber down in a chair and set to straight to work.

"How could you let this happen!?" Vasin asked.

"Well her mother didn't like the idea of her going to get her hair cut." I said sitting in one of the chairs.

We both sighed in annoyance before saying, "Women... What can you do?"

And so we spent the time he was grooming my daughter's hair talking about life and catching up.

"You really have FIVE OF THEM!!" Vasin said in disbelief.

I just chuckled and nodded as I pulled up a picture of the eight of us on my phone.

"Blyat!" Vasin said in disbelief.

I laughed at his reaction and he laughed along with me. He was just finishing up when the door burst open and Cali's voice filled the room.

"ERICK!!!!!" She yelled into the barbershop.

"Speak of the devil! Here is her mother now!" I said looking at the front door.

I sighed as I got up and walked to her. She was livid and I just hugged her. She bit my shoulder. There was pain but not a lot. Soon she calmed down in my arms. I let out a sigh as she unlocked her jaw. She sighed and rubbed her eyes.

"Sorry about that. Sometimes I can't control myself when I'm angry." Cali said.

I patted her head and led her over to where Vasin and Amber were chatting as he put the final touches in. He turned the chair around and my daughter looked more beautiful than ever.

"How does it look?" Vasin asked.

"Perfect! Every time my friend." I said patting his shoulder.

Amber ran to her mother and hugged her tightly. Vasin walked up to Cali and outstretched a hand to her.

"You must be Cali. I am Vasin." He said as Cali shook his hand.

"It is very nice to meet you Vasin. Thank you for doing this, she looks perfect." Cali said looking down at Amber.

"He's the only person I would trust to do a job like this." I said as I sat down in a chair.

I saw Cali blush as she asked, "Could you give me a trim, it's been a while since I've had my hair cut."

"It would be my pleasure." He said motioning towards the chair where Amber had been.

And Vasin went straight to work. He ended up doing something similar to Amber's but a little curlier, as per Cali's request.

He then moved to me. He just gave me the usual pompadour haircut I like. I went to pay but he rejected my money.

"Family doesn't pay here! You should know that." Vasin said with a chuckle.

I still gave him a tip of $40. Because he always did an amazing job. We waved good bye as the three of us drove off.

And thus ends another glorious chapter! I hope you all enjoyed! I know I had fun writing this because of Vasin. He will appear again soon.
