4: The Same As Always, Suzaku

LELOUCH'S POV______________________________

    The walk with Milly was unusually peaceful, the leaves danced in the wind and the birds chirped. The sounds of our feet rapping, tapping, onto the hard concrete. It was perfect, but something was up and Milly planned it.

    Milly's smile grew larger as we walked further, is that even possible?

    "Hey Lelouch, the student council members and I would like some answers." We turned around a corner to the back of the school and I couldn't hate her more, dammit why is Shirley here! Milly after I make a run for it I swear I'll kill you! Kallen and Rivalz too?!

    I ran the other way as Kallen stared chasing me like a madman. As soon as I ran through a door I made myself invisible, C2 showed me how before she left me, and ran up the stairs where Suzaku and I used to meet.

    Pant pant. I'm at the top of the school catching my breath. I hear footsteps running through the halls. Fools, they'll never find me up here! Unfortunately I was wrong when Milly, Kallen, Shirley, and Rivalz cane from the door and surrounded me. I took steps back add they came forward. Eventually I lost my balance and fell off the building, wait, WHAT?!

    "Lelouch!"

    "Ahhhhhhh!!!" I closed my eyes shut and wasted for my seventh death. Shouldn't I be dead right now? I was busy screaming that I hadn't noticed someone grabbing onto me. I opened my eyes and looked up... Suzaku? I didn't expect this, Suzaku died ninety nine years ago.

LELOUCH'S FLASHBACK (99 YEARS)__________

    I had recently found that Suzaku was still alive and dying, he is 219 and so am I. I am going to visit his "soon to be" death bed. It's silent here and the flowers are rotting. It's humid here, at the old house, where Suzaku and I met.

    Ugh, damn these stairs, why did his house have to be up so high! Oooh yeah, he's the prime minister's son. God I'm finally here! I catch my breath and walk up to his doorway, letting myself in because he's too old to walk. I heard he survived over 30 heart attacks and a broken rib. The poor man, why did I tell him to live? I ruined his life.

    I walked to where his room should be and there he was, sitting on his bed, staring at nothing, I feel terrible.

    "Suzaku?" My voice was shaky but Suzaku heard it and forced himself to look at me. I walked towards him and sat in a chair.

    "Lelouch, is that really you? Please tell me I'm not imagining you." His voice was full of loss and loneliness, his face was full of wrinkles and his boney body lay useless on the bed. His hair was pure white and his once bright emerald eyes are now faded.

    "Yes, I am here and I won't leave your side until you die." I grabbed a hold of his weak hand and he gripped tightly. I could tell he needed company, he lost everything. Nunnally died as the kindest ruler.

    "Lelouch, can you do me...one last wish."

    "Anything."

    "Please, kill me already... I can't die... the geass won't let me...." His shallow breathing was the only thing heard.

    "Very well, as you wish." I gave him a hug and stood, looking him in the eyes. The geass symbol appears onto my eye as I get ready to speak.

    "You have lived your life full and well, you have served our kingdom bravely. You will die peacefully with Euphemia in heaven, for that is where you belong."

    "Thank...you.." he closed his eyes and drifted off into heaven where his live awaits him. A tear forms along with another, and another, and another. Everything is silent as if the light was taken from the land.

    "Farewell Suzaku Kururugi, you were the best knight, and friend."

LELOUCH'S POV_________________________________

    After he told me to kill himself I never had peaceful dreams. Suzaku let's me go and I stand up. I whisper to myself.

    "You are the same as always, Suzaku. Risking your own life to save someone you don't even know."
