I couldn't tell her. Because there was nothing to tell her. How do you tell your best friend your in love with her while she's in a relationship? You don't. It's for both of our best interests. I should apologize though, for how rude I was to her. But I can't look her in the eye without feeling hurt that she's with Josh and not me. She cared so much for me a week ago and now has very little interest in me. To be blunt I miss her. I miss her laughs, her hugs, her smile, how her haired smelled. Ok that was kinda creepy. But all of those things are the same, they just don't feel the same.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my phone ring. I snap my head over to see Violet's contact name. I took a deep inhale before picking up my phone and answering.
"Hey Anthony."
"Hi Violet."
"I was just calling in to check on you, you seemed a little down. Is everything alright?"
"Yea everything will be fine." I smiled to myself.
"Care to shoot?"
"Well there was this girl..." I sighed "she is the most perfect girl in the world and I really like her but she's with someone else who's undoubtedly better than me."
There was a long silence.
"Anthony..."
"Yea?"
"Any girl would be lucky to have you. I'm glad that I have you in my life. I wouldn't trade you for anyone in this whole world."
"Not even Josh?"
"Not even Josh"
I scoffed.
"That's a lie."
"If you don't believe me, then listen to me."
I let out a frustrated sigh.
"The day you went to the hospital I was heartbroken. All I wanted to do was stand by your side and hold your hand and just be there for you. But I couldn't and to be honest I didn't know why I felt that way. The first time we met was two hours before that. But I knew that I..." she paused and I felt my heart beat practically out of my chest, "I knew that I loved you as soon as Chase told me you could have visitors. At that specific moment me and Josh were both leaning in but when I heard your name I could barely remember that we were about to kiss. And yes I like Josh, I like Josh a lot. And he makes me happy," I winced, "but you make me feel special. You make me feel loved and excited for the day."
There was an extremely long silence.
"And I hope it works out between you and that girl." She sighed shakily. I could tell she was on the verge of tears.
"Violet?"
"Yes?" Her voice cracked.
"The girl is you." I paused "I love you too."
She sniffled.
"I um have to go." She stuttered before quickly hanging up the phone.
Violet's POV
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
I just admitted that. Yes I do love him but Josh. What the hell do I do about Josh? My phone beeped with a notification.
