Timeskip: 3 months Later

It has been 3 months since Tanjiro and Nezuko were taken in by a man, a former Demon Slayer, named Urokodaki Sakonji.

Though he seemed strict, Tanjiro found that at times the man was really careful and gentle with his actions towards taking care of Tanjiro and, at times, Nezuko.

Maybe because he knows I'm blind...?

Tanjiro discovered that he was indeed 'blind' after a run in with the demon. But for some reason he could 'see' only things that are 'alive' in a vague silhouette; animals, bugs, other people, heck, from what he observed so far, even plants and demons have their own silhouettes.

The first 'person' he saw with his new vision was an injured Nezuko, then he saw very vague green outlines of the trees just outside when he was carrying her on his back.

Then when Tanjiro saw who he presumed was a demon Slayer, the silhouette was blue; an odd colour for a person. But it suited him; A calming silhouette which did not fail to capture Tanjiro's attention when the light lines running along it was flowing in and out like water in a river; a never ending cycle.

Then when he saw the demon who nearly ate Nezuko, this time it was a red silhouette. A crimson, and rather gruesome red. Tanjiro's instincts brought this into memory because he would definitely encounter many like the demon the sun took as its victim.

This was only what Tanjiro observed when he's blind.

Now, he and Nezuko's trainer just found out that the demi-demon couldn't hear, smell or feel anything around himself.

Practically and utterly useless on the battlefield.

This thought made Tanjiro realise what it really takes for his sister, Nezuko, to hold the responsibility for babysitting him, a blind older brother, while also training herself to become stronger so they could eventually avenge their fallen family.

Which, to Tanjiro, is a massive burden for his younger sister; as the eldest, it was in his natural instincts to be protective over his younger siblings.

So then...

How is Tanjiro supposed to take care of his sister as well when he is aware about how deadly the sun could be if they are going to be walking in the day while trying to kill demons without any help from his dead senses at night?

Sure, he can use his unique vision to track the demons as clear as day, but then how the heck is he supposed to, you know, kill them, if he can't even feel the blade across his hands or the pain if he falls off something high? Or if they have to travel by day, where should he run under?

Thinking of the sun....

Tanjiro also wondered why he could only see surfaces where the sunlight hits if his instincts told him to be aware of the sunlight for his own safety.

Maybe it's a warning? Most likely...

But then why would he also be attracted to the sunlight if he knows it would harm him?

Was it something connected to his father's breathing style?

Maybe, but he should investigate while he is with another man in a blue silhouette...

________________________________

Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not.

What Tanjiro knew is that he would bless this day for all eternity.

Just because he was bored out of his mind and had absolutely nothing to do.

At that day, Urokodaki already went outside to monitor his sister's progress in training, so Tanjiro was mostly left alone in the shelter to pretty much stare at everything else he could 'see', observing their silhouettes in colour;

'Green... A plant... Green... Also trees... orange...?... Some animals...'

'What can I do...?'

Tanjiro, being the eldest in the family, thought it was his responsibility to do all the manual labor around his family's home to relieve his mother of the stress raising him and his younger siblings on her own; washing clothes, cleaning the house, cooking, taking care of the youngest, you name it and Tanjiro would be willing to do at least half the work.

So after years of voluntary chores, Tanjiro felt absolutely reckless to do just something to thank Urokodaki for taking them in. Even if he's blind, that does not mean Tanjiro would resort to laziness while his younger sister was literally pushing herself through training for his sake.

Looking around the shelter was Tanjiro's attempt to try and start at least something for him to do when he couldn't see anything at all.

Well, other than the plants and animals he could occasionally see, there was one object that was in a slightly different colour...

Tanjiro knew being human had benefits, and being demon had some as well with some downsides. But maybe he was also transforming into a cat; death be damned, he was curious about the blue thing!

Crawling on fours, Tanjiro could make out a slim, blue silhouette propped up against a wall. But that silhouette was on some stool or closet since the weapon was elevated above the floor he was crawling on.

Through 'trial and error' (translation: tripping, scuffing over the surface, and just being an absolute klutz), Tanjiro figured out a way to pull out the 'doors' that were in his way of obtaining the blue thing.

When he figured out a way to pick it up at the correct end, he... Well,

It took a while before he was able to actually remove the blade from its sheath.
