McGonagall's words kind of just flew over my head. I'm just wrapping my mind around how we have to live with each other and at the very least pretend to be friends. She's looking at my face with the same look I'm wearing. Neither of us has a fucking clue what to say. Although I do assume she's going to say something soon.

"So... what do you think we should make our password? Should it mean something or should it be some kind of joke or..." Granger starts rambling and I can honestly say I haven't really caught a word of it except that it's about the bloody password. Her lips just carry on saying whatever, I'm not sure. She continues to ramble on and it doesn't look like she's going to stop anytime soon. "... Maybe classic book characters..."

"Granger, stop talking. Merlin you're doing my head in." She finally stopped and glared at me for that. "What book are you reading right now? Pick something from that." I shrugged my shoulders and gave her a pointed look. "Quick and easy Granger, first thing that pops into that little head of yours." Her face turns bright red as she thinks. Her face seems to be doing that a lot. Nawing her lip I can tell when an idea crosses her mind.

"Fitzwilliam." Fuck, she's smiling and I don't know why. Turning to the portrait she repeats the same word. The witch and wizard in the portrait nod and sing inwards. Following close behind her the portrait shuts behind us. The layout before us is a bit of a surprise. Right when we walk in there is a small kitchen to our left and to the right is a small furnished common area. Straight ahead are three doors. The two on the outer sides have letters engraved in the wood. 'H' on the left and 'D' on the right. I'm just going to assume the middle door is the bathroom. Altogether the feeling the room gives off is cozy in a way. There's a brown couch and loveseat in the common area that look very soft. The curtains on the windows are all a dark grey and the walls are a cream color. No sign of Gryffindor red or Slytherin green anywhere. That's slightly disappointing. My gaze continues to float around the room until they land on Granger. She's got her arms folded and tucked just under her chest and her hoodie has fallen from her shoulders to her elbows. She's slowly taking in the place around her while biting her lip. Without even thinking my eyes zero in on them. They look really soft. I blink then look away. I shouldn't be looking at her like that. We're supposed to hate each other. Even if McGonagall said we had to get a long. Deciding to explore the kitchen, I start rummaging through the cupboards. I think Granger headed for the bookcase. Occasionally I feel her eyes shift towards me and look away. I brush it off and continue looking. There's random ingredients and mixes inside. I find a drawer full of what looks like cookbooks. Guess I won't be spending anytime in the kitchen. I don't know how to use any of this crap. When I looked out to the room again I notice Granger had already made her way to her room. Might as well check mine out too. Walking across the room I open the door with the engraved letter 'D' on it. Immediately I notice that the room is green with black furniture that have silver accents. There's a full size bed in the middle that has black sheets and an emerald green comforter. The pillows are a mixture of the three colors. Not bad McGonagall, not bad at all. Looking at my right there are two large wardrobes and my suitcases and trunk are right next to them. To my left there's a desk with all my school books neatly stacked and another door. Raising an eyebrow with curiosity I walk over to check it out. Opening the door, I hear something else on the other side. Once fully opened , right in front of me Granger has opened her door and is looking at me in shock. Suddenly she slams the door, going back into her room. So we have a conjoined bathroom. This year is going to be very different. I'm not sure what to think about it. Not only will we be living with each other but we'll be sharing the bathroom. Merlin help me. Is this some kind of joke? Walking into the bathroom, I continue to explore. There's a large tub behind a grey and white curtain. Moving the curtain aside I notice it also has a removable shower head. Across from the shower are the sinks and some counter space. At least there's two sinks. Further into the bathroom is the toilet. I glance back at the door that I know Granger is behind. Wonder what she thinks of this predicament? Knowing her she probably thinks it's ridiculous. Heading back into my room, I shut the door behind me. Might as well let her check out the bathroom without me in it for now. We'll have to figure out what to do at some point. We can't avoid each other the entire time. Glancing at my bags, I grab my wand. With the flick of my wrist my bags start to unpack themselves. Grabbing one of my books I head towards my bed to relax. We have some time before we have to be at the Great Hall anyway. I kick my shoes off and lay against the pillows, this is really comfy. Putting one of my hands behind my head I begin to read and sink into the bed. Time to get my mind off of things for now.

There's a knock at my door that snaps me back to reality. Slowly I sit up and look out the windows. It's gotten significantly darker since we got here. Must be time to head down to the Great Hall. I swing my legs to the side, slip my shoes on and lift my arms to stretch. Hearing her knock on my door again, I roll my eyes.

"Relax Granger, we're not going to be late, I'm coming." Bloody impatient she is.

Heading over I open the door and there she is with her hand up ready to knock again. Smirking at her I lean on the door frame. She's barely as tall as my shoulder.

"Little impatient are we Granger?"

I watch the blood rush up into her face as she glances up at me. She quickly turns around and calls out over her shoulder as she walks away.

"Time to go."

Shaking my head at her, I start to follow her out the portrait and into the corridor. I shove my hands deep into my pockets and stare at her as we go along. This is definitely going to be a long year.
