Jay's P.O.V.
"Let's take a vacation together." This was the third time she said that in the last half hour. Pye and I were sitting in our living room where the sunny Sunday light was pouring in, just being one with the sofa.
"I would much rather spend our last days of freedom relaxing at home." I really wasn't the type to get convinced so quickly, plus I wasn't sure where she was going with this.
"You never want to do anything fun!" She let out an exaggerated sigh.
"So not true, I do fun stuff. Just yesterday we went out shopping." I knew she wasn't going to go for that.
"We went to the supermarket. That does not count!" She got up and moved to sit next to me on the floor, where I was trying to read. "Jay we just graduated, we already have jobs to start in a months' time and you just got paid A LOT OF MONEY of your first art exhibition. If we don't do something now. We are not going to have the time later. Don't you want to start a new?"
I wish I could start a new life. Those words convinced me a little. "Okay, what do you have in mind?" I saw the excitement look on her face and I wasn't sure I wanted to know anymore.
"I want to go to the Fiji Islands, Viti Levu to be precise, it sounds like paradise and it is relatively close. Beach, woods, historical places, new people and good food; how about it?"
I had heard about Fiji before and I had been told it is a nice place to escape to and get inspired, a great destination during vacation. "Okay, we can plan it out and stay for at least 2-3 weeks." She couldn't be more exited. I hope I don't regret this but I still find it suspicious as hell. Where did this idea come from?
Since it was early we decided that this trip deserved to be done in style, so we went shopping. It was technically just my excuse for shopping. We were at a department store looking at clothes and swim wear.
"What are we going to buy?" Pye asked me with a serious look on her face. Since we were younger I had always been the stylist in charge of giving advice on what or not to wear, but we also had different dressing styles- Hipster for Pye and Urban Sophisticated for me. She didn't always like my choices.
"I'm thinking that since it is summer and we don't know what kind of activities we will be doing when we get there, we probably should be prepared for everything and make sure everything stays within a one suitcase range." She laughed at that.
We went on to pick our summer dresses and skirts for daily use (the weather there is warm), some formal wear (for dinners or parties, clubbing, and dates as she suggested), three new swimsuits each, some clothes that would be comfortable for hiking and last but not least the extras to match (shoes, bags, accessories, underwear and luggage). After some shopping we went to the airport to buy our tickets and passed buy a drive through for some dinner. At home we were trying on the clothes we bought and choosing other pieces we wanted to take from our old ones.
"Don't forget to take a coat!" I yelled from my room "You never know if we might need one, it could rain or something."
"Take the black party dress I bought you, you look hot in it." She walked into my room. "We might meet some hot guys and you can show off your amazing body." That last part she said with a sultry look on her face and I rolled my eyes.
"Not really interested in hunting out prospects." I had been single for most of my life only had one boyfriend before and that had ended badly a long time ago, almost 5 years before to be exact.
"Jay, go with an open mind, you may meet mister right" She always told me that but the idea of dating was the farthest from my mind. It broke both my rules at once.
