Lucas POV ~~~~~~~~~~
Lucas could not believe his beloved mother Kate was really dead! He should have returned to Salem years ago as his mother always begged him to. A tear escapes sliding down his cheek.
The doorbell rings. He had been getting followers delivered for his mother all day and yesterday to. He gets up to answer the door. There to his surprise stands his ex mother in law Marlana!
"Hi what are you doing here?" he asks bewildered by her entrance. "I'm so deeply sorry to hear about Kate's passing!" she says to him. She hugs him.
"Thank you! Oh Carrie and my brother Austin are flying in. Hopefully you will get to see Carrie!" he informs her. "I know. Carrie told me. Oh I'm here for another reason, I'm afraid" sighs Marlana.
"What's that?" he wonders.
"Sammy. She plans on attending Kate's funeral. I tried to talk her out of it. But she's coming!" warns Marlana.
He nods. "I see. I expected that. She can come" he mutters.
"What? You want her to come? Why?" asks Marlana.
"My mother's death taught me life's full of surprises. And we can't take life for granted. Sammy can say as she wishes. Maybe all the anger will get buried today!" he tells her.
"Kate raised a fine young man. She sure was proud of you Lucas" teary eyed Marlana says before leaving.
Lucas shuts the door. What could Sammy do anyway? His mother was dead. No more damage could be done. This whole family needed healing.
