Sage felt the soft wind fall through her silver hair as she glided throughout the dim-lit streets of Paris. Her arms spread as they acted like wings, allowing her to feel ultimate freedom. She glanced behind her as she spotted that she was alone now. Good, she only wanted to gain Ladybug and Chat Noir's attention.
Sage's feet touched the ground as she tucked her wings in. In a quick sprint, Sage turned into a dark alleyway. She saw a cat scurry out of the shadows and run across into the light, the cat pounced backward and hissed towards Sage before crawling behind a dumpster.
"Rae, Ground low" Sage muttered the words as she watched her Kwami fly out of the silver bracelet on her wrist. She reached inside her bag and gave Rae a homemade cookie.
"Sage are you sure you need to do this?" Rae's concerned purple eyes looked up at Sage, as she held the small cookie. Sage had been gathering information on Ladybug and Chat Noir for weeks now. Even though she was new to Paris, and wanted to trust the superhero's, she needed time to understand if she could trust them. Trust never came easy for Sage, after everything she has been through, how could it?
"Rae I need their help but I don't know if I can trust them" Rae nodded and continued to eat. Rae was the Owl Kwami, her unusual colours of grey, purple and black, helped her owner blend into the night. Sage was extremely grateful for the gift she had received, without the luck of finding the bracelet she would never have met Rae, her kwami was her only friend. With her few words, Rae nodded as she continued to eat.
"Let's get out of here Rae" Sage commented as the small creature flew under her white coat into the pocket she had sewn for her. Walking through the darkness, winter pricked Sage's cheeks turning them a slight pink as her fingers began to freeze. Sage wrapped her arms around her waist as she struggled for warmth, one of the upsides of having a miraculous was that it was hard to be cold, when you were the 'hero'. Sage had never battled anyone before but her current situation begged her to defend herself. Sage's boots splashed through the muddy water that pooled on the sidewalk.
"Sage you must get inside" Rae whispered her small mouth quivering as the cold surrounded them, suffocating them in a small layer of ice.
"I know Rae, I will soon" Sage began to move faster, turning left then right. The streets totally empty only lit by a single light creating a breach in the darkness, she stood under the illuminating glow and looked up towards the everlasting rooftops. Sage saw Ladybug hopping from one rooftop to another coming closer towards her. She stopped on the rooftop above her completely oblivious to Sage's presence, she continued to watch the famous hero as she stood underneath the bright street light visible to the world but invisible to Ladybug.
"This is dangerous Sage" Rae's voice echoed throughout the street, it traveled bouncing off each building, catching the attention of Ladybug as she loomed above.
Ladybug saw Sage standing under the light staring up into her eyes. Who was this strange girl with the strange hair? They continued to stare at each other, Sage didn't know if she could trust Ladybug she needed her help but trust isn't easy to earn. Sage felt the cold air travel up her arms as she squeezed her small body tighter, her frozen feet stood still as she sent Ladybug a small nod. Sage was confident that her secret was safe but as she felt the cold metal from her bracelet sending shivers through her hand, Sage knew she needed to get home. Sage breathed in the chilled air, nodded and smiled towards Ladybug, she turned and continued to walk out of the light. A silent tap on the ground made Sage's shaking body slowly turn around.
"Are you ok?" The soft voice of Ladybug traveled down the street as she landed behind Sage under the street light. Sage once again looked into Ladybug's blue eyes. She seemed kind, but was it wise to trust her? Sage knew that Ladybug was the Hero of Paris but She still didn't know if she should trust her.
"Be careful" Ladybug continued "There is an akumatised victim about. You should get home" Sage smiled again. It was kind of Ladybug to be concerned about a nobody like Sage.
"Thank you Ladybug but I haven't seen anyone" Sage stood as darkness was casted over her face. Her long black coat cascaded down to her knees as she tugged it closer to her. Ladybug took a step closer to her.
"You look cold and it doesn't matter if you have seen anyone, it's still dangerous" Sage nodded agreeing with Ladybug. After having this personal experience with her Sage began seeing how nice Ladybug truly is.
"Ok. A Hero thinks with her head after all, Don't they Ladybug?" Sage turned and continued walking along the sidewalk. Behind she heard Ladybugs Yoyo fling into the air and wisk the beloved hero away. Sage saw Ladybug talking to Chat Noir in the corner of her eye, The Heros continued to watch her as she walked down the street. Chat Noirs curious green eyes continued to watch the strange girl wonder down the street, her long white coat covered her small fragile body, her black boots tap against the ground as she shivered into the darkness.
"Rae, what should I do?" Sage could see feel their eyes on her, piercing through her back like hawks watching their prey. Sage's feet started pacing increasing speed with every step, The soft cold breeze sent shivers down the side of her face.
"Either trust Ladybug or run" Rae's small voice echoed in Sage's head. Should she trust ladybug? She can't trust Ladybug. Not yet at least. Sage broke out in a sprint, her feet pounded against the harsh concrete as she jumped around the corner.
"Quick, The Cats following" Rae warned Sage, her feet continued to run, bounding through the dark streets of Paris. Her long legs protested as she sprinted past each building, her crisp white coat flows freely throughout the wind along with her long silver hair. Sage didn't want Chat Noir and Ladybug to find out that she was the "akumatised victim".
"The Cat is behind you" Rae's calm voice broke through Sage's short breaths.
"I know Rae. Why is he chasing me?" Sage looked into her coat and glanced towards the small owl kwami. She looked into the big purple eyes looking up at her. Sage knew what Rae wanted to say, she wanted to tell her to stop and trust the heroes. After all, they are superheroes, right? She should be able to trust them but not now. Not with her secret identity. Sage looked up and saw a small alleyway, her feet stopped and jumped into the pitch black.
"Rae Sky High!" The kwami flew out of Sage's coat and into her bracelet. She watched as the purple, grey and black suit encase her arms as she felt. Sage bent her knees and jumped up on top of the small dumpster in front of her, then onto the rooftop.
"Camouflage" Sage saw her body disappeared and blend into the night sky. She placed her invisible hand onto the stone brick fence and pushed her head over the side of the building. Chat Noir was standing in the small alleyway, trying to find where sage could have possibly gone.
"Where did she go?" Chat Noirs voice echoed through the alleyway, he continued to look through the space, behind the dumpster and piles of rubbish, up and down but he couldn't see Sage. To anyone else she was nowhere in sight however she could see everything, he was doing.
"Chat, we should let her go. You probably scared her" Ladybug landed next to Chat Noir. He continued to look for Sage moving to the beginning of the alleyway searching the street again.
"I just wanted to make sure that she's ok. She looked cold" Chat Noir turned and faced Ladybug, his face littered with concern.
"Well, that's very Heroic of you" Ladybug smiled "but I'm sure she got home safely" Sage could see her hands slowly fading back into reality. She stood as her bracelet started to beep and jumped over the rooftop's home.
