Marinette stood silently under the Effiel Tower beside Chat Noir, his green eyes wide with shock.
"Who was that!?" A smile crept onto the superhero face as they continue to watch, waiting for the mysterious miraculous holder to reappear. "Did you see that Ladybug?! She turned invisible!" Chat noir continued to think about how she could help him and Ladybug finally defeat Hawkmoth.
"We don't know if we can trust her Chat Noir. She just came from nowhere" Ladybug muttered to Chat Noir, she wanted to believe that this girl had dropped out of nowhere and would help them defeat Hawkmoth however for all she could know, the girl could be working with the supervillain.
"Your right as always Ladybug" Although Chat Noir was disappointed he knew that Ladybug was right and that he shouldn't be so quick to give his trust to people. Adrien was tired however, he was exhausted from playing this game of cat and mice, getting so close to defeating Hawkmoth but never truly succeeding. He was also annoyed that both he and ladybug were still keeping the biggest secret from each other, their secret identity.
Sage could feel the magic drain from her body, like a leach taking all her power away. Her legs began to be exposed as she ran into a dark alleyway. The alleyway consisted of many dumpsters filled to the brim of rubbish that smelled like old rotten fruit that had been sitting for weeks. Sage's nose scrunched up before her whole body was visible to the world, Rae flew out of the now silver bracelet and landed in the palm of Sage's hands.
"I'm so sorry Rae" Sage apologized, her father would always say that the Kwamis of the miraculous should be treated with the utmost respect by their holder, like a master and student or king and subject however Sage always thought that her father and Rae had more of a friendship as they would often joke and laugh together, well as much as Rae would allow. He valued Rae as a companion, as a friend, and as family.
"Don't apologise, Sage, Elijah would have been proud" Rae mentioned her father's name, she hadn't bear the thought of that small name and didn't allow its slimy cold hands to seep its claws into her conscious and drag her into a place she didn't know if she could escape from, the depts of her mind. Sage couldn't vocalise his name and bring herself to confront the honest truth that she had been avoiding since she fled to Paris, he couldn't possibly be gone and she refused to admit it.
"Come on let's get out of this awful alleyway" Sage opened her white coat and let Rae fly into the small pocket sewn on the inside. She began to walk out of the shadows into the bright sunlight, onto a busy street of Paris. She looked towards the Effiel Tower and watched as Ladybug and Chat Noir escaped the crowd that was slowly enclosing in on them. Ladybug tugged at the string of her yoyo and began to fly through the air whereas Chat Noir extended his staff ( ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) and leaped over the building out of Sages sight. She sighed and continued to wander down the street, her black sneakers tapping along the white concrete as she dodged the people swerving left and right.
Her mind kept sending her memories of her old village. The coziness of the small cabins warmed by fireplaces hidden away in a valley surrounded by snow-peaked mountains. Paris was different, very different compared to the paradise oasis she called home. Before coming to Paris Sage never left the comfort and safety of the mountains, until her village was attacked. The traumatising visions continue to flash in and out, making her mind spin Sage continued to walk along the cold cobblestoned street. Sage needed to get out of the open street but Rae was exhausted from her last transformation. Her feet guided her to someplace she could hide, she didn't know where her body was going but with her mind so hazy she just needed to be away from the world. Sage stopped just on the other side of a bridge, it was close to home however she needed to sit down. A park bench stood lonely in front of the water, it wasn't perfect but Sage was happy to find in. Her feet slowly stumbled over to the wooden bench.
Sage sat upon the bench looking at the river canel, it was no stream that she was used to but it reminded her of her home. Although the water was plagued with rubbished and stained brown by the dirt, unlike the clean seethrough streams that would flow adding to the song of the nearby forest. Sage sighed, she knew for the time being she could not return and had to force herself to call paris her home. She never thought she would leave the comfort of her valley, Sage was always told that they were hidden from the world and nothing and nobody could find them. Sage was told they were safe, hidden away from society but she guessed she was lied to.
Sage sat upon the lightly stained bench reminiscing on what had happened to her, she could hear her father's voice loud and clear in her mind as well as seeing his soft face. She remembered the night that her whole life was changed when her father passed the owl miraculous onto her. Sage remembered the brutal battle, the voices of her people screaming pleading for help when there wasn't anyone left to help them. However, she also remembered how happy her home made her feel, how it felt right to be surrounded by nature. Sage could remember that night vividly, her father had just gotten home his brown hair was messy and his blue eyes were wide with concern.
Elijah felt fear spread his slimy cold hands down along his neck and creep onto his back making small goosebumps appear along his arms. He looked at the silver bracelet upon his wrist, at this moment he felt entirely useless he had been given the power of the miraculous however it still wasn't enough to defeat The Order of the Shadows, after they had failed the last mission Elijah had a new one, retrieve his family and run. Elijah slowly closed the door with Rae swiftly fly out of his jacket pocket.
"Rae listen. If anything happens to me please take care of Sage" Elijah's voice was soft so only Rae could hear him, she only nodded in response before sitting upon his broad shoulder, the wooden door slowly creaking closed shut. This is how Elijah and Rae would normally return home, he tried to remain calm for his family however fears cold embrace made him shiver all over again. Elijah's feet slowly stumbled into the kitchen, his hands reaching out to rest on the wooden bench.
"Father, is something wrong?" Sage's voice broke Elijah. it only reminded him that he failed to protect his little girl but now wasn't the time for emotions to get the best of him. Elijah breathed in slowly and straightened his posture.
"Sage we must leave tonight" Elijah could see the shock spread across his daughters, her knew he waws tearing her from her home it was all she knew. He understood how much she loved the mountains and the forest however soon there wouldn't be a village to live in.
"Father I don't understand" Elijah looked down at her daughter, she had the same eyes as him bright and bold. However, they were never dull always full of light. Sage was 16 but Elijah always thought of her as his little girl and always avoided telling her about the negative side of being a Miraculous holder, Sage considered it a blessing but she didn't understand the delecate balance that she would need to keep with the other miraculous holders. When Elijah was chosen to be the Owl Miraculous holder he also thought the same as Sage, that people wood swoon over him in all his heroic glory. However, that image crumbled quickly when the other miraculous holder's personalities clashed, high egos endorsed from being chosen each believing that they were more powerful than the rest.
"Father what's going on? Why must we leave?" Sage continues to question her father, her light blue dress swayed in the soft breeze that flowed through the open window. Sage placed her palms together and intertwined her fingers placing her hands on her chest she breathed the cool air into her warm lungs. Although her Father tried to hide his anxiety she could feel its oozing sludge slowly consume the room. Elijah continued to remain silent, Sage looked toward Rae who still sat upon his shoulder quiet as always.
"Rae, will you tell me what's going on?" Sage looked into those big purple eyes that just blinked as a response. Typical Rae.
"Sage, The Order of the Shadows are coming. I - We couldn't stop them."~~~~~~
Bit of a cliffhanger. Maybe not the best one but I don't really like long Chapters.Word count: 1538
