the younger girl looks at the distressed boy. she has never seen him like this, she had never even connected to him at a emotional level.

the only thing she knew was that he needed comfort.

rena walks over and stands next to sicheng.
"i told you i was going to check up on you." she says.

"i know, i know." he looks at her.

"do you want any advice?" she asks. "whats your problem right now?"

"i dont know if yangyang told you this, or anyone did..." the girl raises her eyebrow in confusion. "im getting married to nayoung and im not really psyched."

"wow." she says with eyes wide. rena wouldve never expected this was what sicheng was so upset about.

"so was this arranged?" sicheng nods and looks towards the garden again. "kun set you guys up?"

"kun would never ask for something i wouldnt want to do, it was my father's doing before he and my mother passed."

"but why marry you off? isnt kun the next heir?"

"but nayoung is the heir to the throne of her county, marrying her would make me king."

rena was dumbstruck, how is sicheng going to get married? he can barely talk to you, how could he possibly socialize with the other gender without stuttering?

"so what advice can you give me now rena?"

"first of all, why not ask kun to call the wedding off?" sicheng looks at me like a grew i extra head.

"are you kidding? nayoung's father is a huge supplier to weishien, cancelling this wedding would put kun in such a difficult situation."

"but sicheng what about you-"

"you know what? lets call it a day."

"sicheng-" he stands up and takes rena towards the door.

"go to bed rena, im sure youre tired." he softly pushes out the door.

before he closes it rena holds it open.

"rena let go."

"youre obviously not okay with this arrangement so why are you brushing it off so quickly? you should worry about what you want sicheng."

"im a prince, rena." and before he closes his door, he says something that made rena think twice about her role in the castle.

"after all youre just a low life groundskeeper, i dont expect you to understand why we do what we do."

rena stands there. shes shocked.
she hasnt heard that phrase in awhile, the old feeling rushes back in and she slowly lets a tear out.

she wipes it away and chuckles to herself.

"what was i thinking? of course nothing changed."
