When I wake, Blake is changing the radio channel to listen to the weather.
"Dark grey clouds cover us here in Columbus, though no precipitation has broke through yet." says the man on the weather forecast.
"They're coming. They've found us, we were too slow." Blake slams his left fist onto the steering wheel after turning the radio off.
I reach my hand over and grab ahold of his, "It'll be alright. This isn't your fault, possibly mine, but not yours. Okay?" I look at him and wait for a reply, but something else in the rear view mirror catches my eye.
A white SUV is speeding behind us, switching lanes and nearly bumping into cars.
"Is that the Cadentibusque?" I quickly ask Blake as he switches lanes.
"Most likely. We just have to lose them." He speeds the car up and passes several others, more white SUVs come from behind us.
At first I'm not entirely sure they know what car we're in, but then an SUV heads straight towards us, aiming to kill. Blake can't switch lanes because on our right there's another white SUV which is trying to run us off the road. When the SUV behind us is about 10 yards away, I raise my hands up to my face and push toward the back windshield. The white SUV holding members of the Cadentibusque flies off the side of the road into the forest.
"Now do that to the other one!" Blake yells at me.
I turn towards the SUV on our right and push my hands towards it. It runs off the road into barrels full of water used during road work. Blake continues speeding but acts as if nothing happened.
"Um, excuse me. What the hell was that? What just happened?"
"Looks like your father passed on some of his gifts to you. Very rare to see in angel spawn." He says looking at me with a smirk.
"How many 'angel spawn' are there? And is flipping cars off the road all I can do?" I say sarcastically.
"Well, there are maybe fifty angel spawn alive at the moment... but the Cadentibusque have slowly been killing them off for the past several years. I can't figure out exactly why, but I think it's because the angel spawn are becoming more and more powerful. That may be why you were able to do that just now, because it's quite uncommon in regular circumstances."
I'm more confused than ever, now.
"How can there be so many when angels aren't allowed to... mate with humans?"Blake takes a moment to think over his words carefully.
"Well, the Cadentibusque are fallen angels, right?" he says, looking at me. "So they must have been just like any other angel at one time. A lot of them got cast out of heaven for impregnating a human, but some, who were favorites, were allowed to stay. Your father was one of those favorites, but he had challenged the archangels one time too many when they found out about you. He had four other children with mortal women, but three of them have been confirmed dead. The last one, Colby, is thought to have been taken hostage by the Cadentibusque when he was a small child. No one has seen or heard about him since."I need a moment to take all of this in. All of my life, I'd been an only child. I'd never had a real father figure. I'd been utterly normal. Now, in the past 24 hours, I've found out that I have four siblings (three of which are dead), an angel for a father (also dead) and a strange psychokinetic ability.
Anything else you'd like to throw my way, world?
