The five children followed Lucy down a pathway until they stopped at a cave. The cave door was wrenched off its own hinges, and inside was dark and gloomy.

Lucy gasped and ran forward, and the others followed her.

"Lucy!" Peter called out.

"That's a pretty good washout," Edmund said carelessly as they entered the rundown cave.

"Oh, shut up," Susan and Peter said together.

"Look! There is a note!" Erinelle exclaimed, ripping the piece of parchment from the floor. "Can you read it, Peter?"

"Not in this light," the boy shook his head and they all stepped out of the worn-out cave. "It says, 'The former occupant of these premises, the Faun Tumnus, is under arrest and awaiting his trial on a charge of High Treason against Her Imperial Majesty Jadis, Queen of Narnia, Chatelaine of Cair Paravel, Empress of the Lone Islands, etc., also of comforting her said Majesty's enemies, harbouring spies and fraternizing with Humans.

Signed: Maugrim, Captain of the Secret Police,

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!'"

"That's horrible," gasped Erinelle, who has been listening intently.

"I agree," Susan said quietly. "I don't like going here after all."

"Who is this Queen, Lu?" Peter asked the short-haired girl.

"She's not really a queen," Lucy informed the group sadly, "she is a horrible witch who has taken over the whole of Narnia!"

"Psst!" a voice was hissing at them.

They all turned to see a robin perched upon a snow powdered tree.

"Is it just me, or did that bird just 'psst' at us?" Susan asked the group curiously.

The bird glanced at all five of them, before flying to another tree, hopping from one foot to the other.

"I think it wants us to follow it!" Lucy exclaimed in excitement, and smiled widely, her eyes filled with the longing of adventure.

The small group of five followed the red, white and brown bird until it flew away.

"See! Watch it go. Now we are lost! And I'm getting horribly tired and hungry," Edmund grumbled bitterly.

"Edmund," Erinelle sighed in frustration, "I really want to agree with you, I really do. But honestly, if I do, I'll boost your ego more than needed," at this, Peter gave what was in between a laugh and a cough, signifying that he was doing his best to choke back his laughter.

"Look! It's a beaver!" Lucy informed the group.

"I got this," Peter told the rest, "Here boy, here boy," Peter said clicking his tongue. When the beaver got close to Peter, he put his hand out towards it. Immediately, the beaver stood op on its hind legs and put its paws on its hip.

"I'm not going to smell it if that's what you want," The Beaver spoke.

Shocked, Peter took a step back. "S-sorry."

"Woah, Woah, Woah. Hold up. You can talk?" Erinelle asked from the back of the group.

The small brown creature ignored her. "Lucy Pevensie."

"Y-Yes?" The young girl asked cautiously.

The beaver put out his paw and revealed that he was holding a greenish handkerchief.

"That's the hankie I gave to Mr Tum-"

"-Tumnus. He gave it to me before he got taken away," Mr Beaver nodded at the group.
