Chapter Five - "Promise"

*Sayo's POV*

My promise...
To become better than (Y/N)...
On that fateful day.

Yesterday was fun - I rocked at the game, actually.
But it's time to show my real skill.

So today, at Live House Galaxy...
(Y/N) as my only audience member...

I will complete my promise to him.

"I'd like to reserve the stage right now," I told the girl behind the counter at the live house.

"R-reserve? Right now? Well, you are part of Roselia, so I could make a special exception."

"Thank you, Asahi-san," I told her before heading onstage.

I know exactly what song to play.
It's actually a song Roselia plays, and it's only one that we wrote recently.

It means a lot to me, and I can really sing it and play it from the bottom of my heart.
I'll play it with all my soul.
I'll play it to show my love to (Y/N).

As I practiced alone, I began to remember things about our concert...

"The skilled guitarist, Hikawa Sayo, was defeated by a newcomer!"

"How could I lose?" I thought.

"To someone I've barely even heard of."

"Not even at home or at school, I can't escape the sting of being second-best."

That's how I was before.
Now, I've sealed the past away.
I'm a different person now.

And then, (Y/N) showed up.
He waved at me, and I waved, too.

"So, what did you want to show me?" He asked.

"It's for you. My promise, remember?"

"I remember. You never forgot once, huh?"

"No. These past years, it never escaped my mind. But when you came back into my life, you made me want to show you my sound."

Now it's time.
The moment I've been waiting for a long time.
Time to make him happy by playing.
Make him smile.
Show him how much I really care.

"(Y/N). This is the song I'm going to play for you.
It's called... 'Promise'."

I got stronger every time I burned an excuse for escape
Because I have a place that can not be ceded to anyone

Maturing in sunshine
A white clover will be reborn
Into something unshakable

The path may have more rigors than calm
But that's fine
Because I will be next to you
Breathing that promised scenery strongly into my chest
Let's continue on the road to the future
To the exquisite shining throne
I will not stop until that beautiful day

As I ended my performance, I looked toward (Y/N).
He smiled, then clapped.
Then he walked onstage and gave me a hug.

"...Thank you, Sayo. Your performance right now was great. You've really been practicing all this time."

I smiled too.
"I... I'm glad you like it. Believe it or not, that was hard for me."

"Hard for you? Why?" he asked.

"Playing in front of you, my heart started beating fast. I'm still not used to the feeling."

"You just love me that much!" (Y/N) laughed.
