FEW MINUTES BEFORE the first period began, Hinata decided to slow her pace on walking towards her new school. She didn't want people to see a new girl wandering around the crowd of old students like a lost puppy.
As she walked, her fingers were crossed in hopes to be classmates with Ino since she's the only person she's the same age with and close it. It was such a shame that Tenten was a year older.
She straightened her posture and fixed the red ribbon over her dark blue uniform blazer.
The building of Konoha High School stood tall before her, making her feel small and vulnerable.
Today's the day. She thinks to herself.
Her gaze averted to the students entering the school in groups and pairs. And she was alone.
Her heart pounded on her chest. She felt like she'd throw up anytime soon.
"Hina!" A familiar voice called out. Hinata sighed in relief and turned her back to see a sprinting Ino. She was engulfed in a hug in no time.
"I-Ino thank god, I thought I was going to faint right there. I'm so nervous!" Hinata exclaimed.
"Let's go inside, shall we?" Ino excitedly said. She inserted her arm on Hinata's as they walked inside.
The hallway was packed with students. To Hinata, it was packed with new people she'll get to know for 10 months. Her heart was still thumping like crazy.
"INO!" Someone from the crowd called the blonde. She turned to Hinata, "Stay with me, I'll introduce you to my friends!"
Of course, I'll stay with you dummy. I don't know everyone here. Hinata thought to herself.
It all happened too quickly. Hinata was introduced to some of Ino's friends—namely Temari, Sai, Kiba, and three other names that she already forgot. To her luck, they were all classmates too. They were now on their respective seats, getting to know each other.
The classroom was composed of class clowns, lots of them. The familiar pink haired flower shop costumer. A popular stoic boy, who had girls all over him. A boy who seemed to bring a luggage of potato chips with him. An unbothered genius. The list goes on.
The bell rang and the laughter and chatters in the classroom died down into an awkward silence. Everyone settled down on their seats. If Hinata hadn't been seated next to the window, it would've been more awkward.
Everyone's attention averted to the silver-white haired man entering the classroom, who greeted a 'Good Morning, students!' and proceeded to introducing himself—Kakashi Hatake, then orienting the students about the school's rules and regulations.
"Hee—Heeyowda?" The called girl turned around and met familiar piercing blue eyes. Naruto Uzumaki.
Confusion painted on her face, Hinata only let an unsure "Huh?"
"You're Heeyowda, right? Or was it Yuda? Or Yoda? I wasn't able to hear clearly because of the rain that day y'know,"
"As always, you're so bad at remembering names." Ino, who's seated next to Hinata, butted herself in the conversation.
The girl let out a soft laugh, "It's Hyuuga. Hinata Hyuuga."
"My bad!" The blond boy gave her a sheepish grin, his hand reached out to her, "I'm Uzumaki Naruto. I didn't get to introduce myself that day!" He said, the sheepish grin never leaving his face. Hinata gave a friendly smile in return.
Naruto is my classmate and so is Sakura. I'll be witnessing a romance anime unraveling before my eyes. She cringed as she thinks to herself.
"Oh. About your umbrella—" Before she could even finish talking, the snow-white haired teacher cut her off.
"Mind telling the whole class about you two's conversation?" He towered over the dark blue haired student. Everyone was staring at the both of them now.
"Heh. I was just clarifying her name." Naruto scratched the back of his head.
On the other hand, Hinata froze in her seat, her face heating up in
embarrassment. She looked over Ino to only find her snickering."Eh? I've never seen you around before?" Kakashi asked.
"I-I'm new in Konoha, sir."
"Interesting." He started, "Introduce yourself in front of the class."
Ugh, I thought I got away from that. Hinata irritatingly thinks to herself.
The dark blue haired girl stood up from her seat and walked towards the very front and center of the classroom. Her legs felt like jelly and she felt like she'd throw up anytime soon.
"Good morning everyone," She managed to blurt out while being a nerve wrecked mess. "I—I'm Hyuuga Hinata. I'm very new to this town so I don't know much about everyone yet. I hope we'll get along." She said, bowing right after.
After the short introduction, she let out a heavy breath she didn't know she was holding the whole time. The whole class before her applauded and gave her a smile.
"That's my girl right there!" Ino shouted from her seat. Hinata let out a chuckle.
As she walked back over her seat, she can only tell that it was going to be a long day.
The first day of class passed in a blink of an eye. Before Hinata knew it, it was time for her to do her job. She had just come back from the flower shop to get the items, the first of the five letters and flowers.
All alone she walked on her way to the Uzumaki house—she got the address from Ino, by the way. Since Sakura never gave her any details of it.
She stopped walking when she reached the house next to Naruto's to look around her surroundings—to make sure she wouldn't cause any misunderstanding and misfortunes by getting caught.
She remembered after the dismissal, Sakura had greeted her a "Do a great job!" in which Hinata just responded with an unsure "Thanks."
She heaved a deep breath.
"Okay. Let's do this."
She walked towards the big Uzumaki residence house and quickly placed the letter and flower before the huge gate.
Final step, she rang the doorbell twice and quickly ran for it.
Phew. That was easier than I thought it would be. She thinks to herself as she headed towards her apartment.
