My dear diligent readers, I have tweaked the previous chapters where Jade got into her fight (basically I thought of a better cuss so I added it in!), and I'm changing to where she's moving from Miami to Los Angeles. I want you to know that I have never been to America, except from when I was really young, and never to LA. Please excuse if I get anything wrong. I'm British.
I couldn't add the picture of an Erhu, so just search it please. The intrument above is the Kugo at my Japanese music teacher's Hall. Sway by Michael Bublé in link.XxxXxxXxxXxxXxx
Mummy and I just sat in the girls' lounge in silence for a couple of minutes. I was still pretty shaken up from daddy's anger. I was only now doubting, and thinking over if I really should have gotten my piercings. But it's a bit late now. I got my tongue and my dimples pierced. My cheeks have matching pink baubles, while my tongue has a blue one. I knew I shouldn't have done it, but what's done is done, the past can't be changed, and they look hella hot.
"So..........." I say, dragging out the 'o' vowel. Mummy was just sitting there, she's the one that wanted to talk!
"Why did you do it Jade?" She asked, as straightforward as she could get.
"Not beating around the bush are we?" I mumble under my breath.
"I heard that. So answer my question."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that." I waited a couple of seconds before speaking up. "I did it because I felt like I was unconnected to you guys. It's like, everyone knew we were moving, and you only tell me a week before we leave, and it's not even like where monving to like east London, we're moving a fucking broad. You can't just pull me out of central London and away from everything I've ever known. It's America. They call chips fries over there. I won't survive the culture shock. Plus America is the capital of oversized everything drowned in grease. I'm probably going to get fat. I don't want to get fat! Even my friends tell me about having to go to school there and I'm going to have to deal with jocks and American football. Yuck, American football. Why did they ruin such a wonderful British sport because they wanted to jump on people? That's what Rugby's for. Anyway, the point is, I can't deal." I tried saying all is slowly, I just sped up, and by the end of it, I was whispering.
"Unfortunately, it's not about whether you want to go or not. We have no choice, and this is your father's and I's duty. We are moving there to improve your lives. We're going to have a bigger house, we have your room sorted already." She explained. I sighed.
"I know, but I wish you guys saw it from my point of view." I sighed again.
"I understand more than you think. Your father and I don't want to move either." Mummy says.
"Really?" I say, hopeful. Mummy chuckles.
"Really. Speaking of your father, you need to speak to him immediately." She gives me a pointed look.
I sigh, but nonetheless go up to daddy's office. I knock, but he doesn't make a peep.
"Daddy it's me. We need to talk. I'm sorry for what I did. I'm sorry I made you angry." I whisper the last part.
He still doesn't answer, so I do to my room, grab my iPhone dock and key, and unlock the study door. I see my dad sitting in the swivel chair with his head in his hands. I put on one of his favourite songs, Michael Bublé Sway. I start to street tango by myself, and my dad looks up. I smile at him, and I know t hat he can't stay mad at me for long. Me and my mum may be close, but I am definitely daddies little princess.
He gets up and joins me, and we tango to Sway on repeat, our bodies communicating, and I know I'm in my dad's good books again. We twist and slide as our bodies move inf the intimate dance of trust that is the tango. When we are out of breath, we stop, and I turn of the music. I hug him.
