chapter 21 Royal blood

So basically I have to find the royal blood. Is that suppose to be symbolic or is it really blood from the ancient civilization? At least I have better odds then them. Seven hundred people to check ruffly I bet it's the last person that I would suspect.

I will go to school with the scanner that was in the letter. Second letter I really don't understand, I know he was the founder of the two towns but what about this research thing. We are perfectly healthy why would we want to be changed into a normal person? Maybe they wanted to control all of the so called mutants.

I really dislike that word mutants. I know why we changed, it was because of World War III. The bombs and all that radiation first changed animals then we changed. The whole world war changed so it was between us and the regular people. Most of us were running to find refuge from the cold war. The scientists rushed to find a cure before the world was destroyed. When the cure was applied it changed us more each thing they tried the more we changed.

Alexander Misfit let the super humans hide in Atlantis when he was not trying to find the cure but he was trying to find out how to make Atlantis re-sink. It worked and now we live in peace from whatever remains of the world. Based on what I have seen they aren't doing too well up there. If we had made an alliance we could be living in a different world.

“Ellen are you ready for school" Jace asks annoyingly. I pull away from my thoughts and grab the tiny scanner. I will spare you the boring details of what happened at school. Let's just say it was not there.

No one was sick either at school, so what now. My new and reform plan is to scan above in the world. Jace has become silent and more hesitate to talk. I can't help but to worry but I have too much on my plate to ask. I need to clear it off before I commit to a relationship.

I check my wrist for the number. That's weird it's still at forty-five. What the hell not that I mind but still super weird. I start up the long ladder still thinking to myself. A lot has happened in six months, my friends died then didn't, I fall for a guy claiming to be my soul mate and Atlantis will self destruct soon if I don't find the royal blood.

I see the cool night breeze well I assume it's night because I don't see the sun. I put the scanner in my hand. It beeps rapidly, changing color. I hear a footstep then a cloth is on my mouth. I pass out.

I wake up gagged and tied to the chair. I open my eyes to find myself back at the store with my brother. The scanner obnoxiously loud, and a dark red. I attempt to scream my head off.

“Shut up you what is this device" his deep voice asks.

“A scanner to find Atlantis's cure" my voice muffled from the cloth. Finn walks next to me and pulls down the gag and I repeat it again. It dawns on my that my sick and twisted brother has the royal blood.

“Ellen isn't that your name" Finn asks. I shake my head yes.

“Please come back to Atlantis brother" I plead. Finn turns his back to me. I drop my head in defeat. No way was he going to actually come back. Especially with me, I would just be a constant reminder.

“Why would I? I failed to protect you once from whatever life throws at you. I never was there" Finn still faces away from me. His voice was filled with raw emotion.

“I am not going to force you but let me go and I will save Atlantis myself" I would have to sacrifice my life for everyone else's. Finn unties me and I leave, leaving the scanner with him. But before I leave I say “I've fallen in love, I think you would have liked him".

I walk back to the tunnel, through the dungeon, into the street. I wipe a silent tear from my face. Head down in defeat.
