Three
I was woken up by my alarm on my phone blasting out All Time Low, which is the best band that exists. I groan and slap my phone, trying to shut it up. Rolling my eyes I pick up my phone and turn off my alarm then throwing it to the other side of my bed. I am NOT a morning person. After sliding on my ray ban glasses, I get up and head towards the shower. Just to wash off any night smells off. After jumping out and cleaning my face I proceed to my wardrobe. Groaning again I sit down on the floor of my walk in wardrobe, defeated on what to wear. I mean it is the first day of a brand new school so you have to make a good impression. As if on cue, my phone starts ringing from my bedroom. I quickly get up and run to answer it.
“Hello???”
“Adelaide!!!!”
“OMG Jay you could not have rung at a better time!!”
Jay was my absolute best friend back in England. She was the reason why this move was more difficult than the others. We have been close since I first arrived to England about a year and a half before. She’s the type of friend that will come to your house whenever you need her whether it was 2pm or 2am. She would make you cookies or bring you ice-cream when you’re feeling down, go punch someone if someone has annoyed you or help you decide what to wear on important days, LIKE TODAY!
“What’s up girl?”
“First day of school, nothing to wear, need help”
“Okay urmm, what about your black ripped jeans, oversized burgundy jumper and Chelsea boots?”
“Yes to the jeans and boots but its too hot for a jumper my love, its like 20 degrees”
“Oh shit yeah, how about your white loose t-shirt and denim jacket incase it gets a bit cold?”
“You girl are a genius! Thankyou so much”
“No worries, now go get ready for your first day and we’ll skype later yeah?”
“Yeah sounds good, last question; Smokey eye or nautral?”
“Babe go smokey eye, it always looks good. Talk to you later, love ya!”
“You too, see ya Jay”
I quickly throw on the outfit that Jay chose and looked in the mirror. God knows why I chose to wear heel boots, I’m tall enough already! I hate my height. I also hate my legs, they’re so skinny. Yes I am one of the girls who can’t put on any weight and I am so self-conscious about myself. Dashing quickly into my bathroom, I start to apply my makeup. I decide not to apply foundation or concealer because my skin actually looks okay for once. I fill in my eyebrows, apply the eye shadow, brush on some bronzer and then put on some eyeliner and mascara. Looking into the mirror, I put my contacts in and toss my hair into a messy bun, pulling strands down at the side to frame my face. Yeah that will do.
I run down the stairs and into the kitchen grabbing a bowl and pouring some strawberries and blueberries into it, the covering it in natural yogurt. After quickly eating it, I run back upstairs, brush my teeth, slip my boots on and grab my bag with the essentials in.
“Adelaide sweetheart, will you be alright driving yourself to school? I don’t want you getting lost or anything” my mum says popping her head into my room.
“Yeah I’ll be fine, Giles will be with me anyway.”
After nodding, mum left the room, yelling at Giles to hurry up. I don’t understand how a boy could take longer than me to get ready! I wait downstairs by the door for him, swinging my car keys around my finger. Giles come pounding down the stairs.
