"THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!" Frank blurted out before laughing historically. Mae joined him in his lauphing fit. Gerard only rolled his eyes playfully trying to hide a smile. Mikey leaned on his hand impatiently, waiting for them to stop so he could finish his story. Their laughing seemed to seece when Mikey said, "Are you two done yet?" Gerard let out a chuckle. Mae wiped a tear from her eye before looking at Frank and shrugging. "Yeah, we're done." He let out a sigh of relief. "Anyways-"

"Maebelle Lee Tollings." The principal said from behind the fifth graders. Mikey let out a loud groan in annoyance. Frank slapped a hand over his mouth to stop himself from laughing so he could hear what the principal had to say. Mae didn't laugh, though. She gulped before slowly turning her head towards Ms. Strickland. "Yes?" Mae asked in a shakey voice. Ms. Strickland gestured for her to follow before starting to walk away. Mae looked towards the three. First Frank who was sitting across from her at the lunch table. Then to Mikey who was sitting next to her. To Gerard who was sitting on the far side of the bench.

"Ooooo! Somebody's in trouble!" Frank snickered while Gerard had a smirk on his face that confirmed the same thing. Mikey though, had an apologetic look on his face. Unsure of what was happening. Mae gulped before getting up from the bench and headed towards the principal who was waiting for her next to the hallway that led to her office.

"If this is about the dead rat that you found in the vents-" Ms. Strickland raised an eyebrow. "No, Maebelle Lee. This is not about whatever prank you pulled this time." Mae let out a sigh. "Good. So what is this about?" She swear she saw sympathy in her eyes and she was a little worried. "Mae..."

Mae ran out of the school and hid under the playhouse in the playground. She was crying. The playground was empty, but lunch was almost over and kids would come rushing out. Soon enough they did. The three found her still crying underneath the playhouse.

"Mae?" Mikey was first to crouch down to check on her. Gerard and Mikey were twins but looked nothing alike. Both had glasses but Gerard wore contacts. Both had somewhat long and scraggly hair, but Mikey's was a light brown or a dirty blonde while Gerard's was a raven black. And Mikey was taller. Actually taller than the rest of the fifth graders. Which made it kind of difficult for him to get to Mae. Who was smaller than even Frank. Frank was the smallest boy in the fifth grade.

Mae wiped her eyes and looked up at them. Gerard and Frank exchanged glances at eachother before looking back at Mae. They had no clue of what to do. Mikey cupped her cheek and wiped away a tear with his thumb. "What's wrong?" He asked sweetly. Mae sniffed before answering. "My grandpa, h-h-he died. From-fr-from a h-h-heart-attack." More tears spilled and Mikey pulled her into a hug. "I'm so sorry." He whispered. Mae was now crying loud sobs. Frank and Gerard joined into a group hug.
