Invoked and Unconquerable- An Original Story

Prologue

Millions of years ago, before humans walked the Earth, before gods meddled with the hierarchy of the planet, supernatural creatures ruled the planet. There were hundreds of species, all fighting over which species was dominant and ruled all. Fairies, sprites, demons, animal spirits, elves, mermaids, phoenixes, Stoneborn, Treekin, kelpies, shapeshifters, dragons... and many more.

After the gods created the humans and the humans started grouping together and creating their societies, however, the world changed. Supernatural creatures were chased out of their homes they'd lived in for eons. Hunted. Panicked, the supernatural creatures all banded together- something that had never happened before- and fought a war against the humans. Both sides suffered great losses-- the bloodshed was only stopped by divine intervention.

Unfortunately, the divine took the sides of the humans, their own creations. Supernatural creatures were chased into hiding, only re-emerging occasionally throughout history. Eventually thought to be nothing but myth by most. Some were forgotten entirely by all but their brethren. Some sooner than others. Eventually, even the gods forgot about the creatures that used to rule the Earth. Humans had changed the planet, forever.

Of course, the introduction of humans didn't only result in bloodshed. It also created many new hybrid species. Animal-shifters, half-elves, half-fae, half-demons, to name a few. These new species (or sub-species?) had a somewhat easier time due to being able to look exactly like humans and walk among them. Though they had to be extra careful to not be caught, or they would meet an untimely death.

Strangely, some of the humans even managed to evolve and become their own manner of supernatural. Wizards, witches, warlocks, Devoted... normally things that involve the arcane and mastery of magic or the worship of the divine. The divine in turn blessed them with amazing powers, usually having to do with whatever god they had worshiped.

The divine themselves had a bad habit of sleeping with supernatural creatures and creating godly hybrids, unaware that it was a supernatural creature they had slept with-- as many of them had learned how to blend in and take on human forms eventually. Others simply didn't care, because a night of pleasure was a night of pleasure (we're looking at you, Zeus).

This created a confused and unaccepted group of hybrid supernatural creatures, hated by the supernatural creatures for being part god, and hated by the demigods and humans for being "monsters". They had nowhere to go, nowhere they could be accepted and learn to control their powers. So they banded together, in gangs and families all across the world.

This particular story focuses on the lives of two individuals whose entire life stories tie into the information above. Caution: there will be bloodshed and tears.
