The Beginning!

"Muma, where are we going?" The child said, turn her head from the hover car's window. "We're going to eat for your birthday!" Her mother said turning her head to look at her daughter. "Where's James?"
"He's with a frie-" She began, when she lost control of the vehicle. "Honey!" The kid's dad said trying to grab the steering wheel, but it was too late. They had crashed into the side of a building, and proceeded to fall about ten feet until hitting the ground, killing both parents. The little girl fought consciousness, as the world around her slowly turned black.

Maddie bolted awake. It was just another nightmare. She stood up from her bed and checked the clock. 00:24 the clock read. She picked up her mechanical arm and started towards the kitchen, attaching it in the process. Maddie poured herself a cup of water, and looked out the window. It had almost been 15 years since that night, but it had affected her the most out of anything else. She looked down at he legs, only one of them was real the other had been pieced together by pieces of scrap metal that somehow got her through her days. She finished her water and headed back to her shared room. Both of her parents had died that night, she had no close relatives, and even if her brother hadn't run away then he'd still be to young raise Maddie, so she'd ended up in an orphanage near the end of town. Her closest friend was the person she shared her room with; Lady. Lady was very outgoing, and loved almost everything. Though, like Maddie, no one wanted her, for she was a fallen angel. Magic was around in this world, but not everyone had it, and the few who did were seen as strange, and untrustworthy. Maddie had always thought of the social hierarchy was completely idiotic, but she had no say in it. She walked into her room, took off her arm, and quietly climbed into bed.
