It's you and Luke's first date since becoming best friends years ago. He has taken you to an amusement park, knowing it's one of your favorite places.

Both of you are having a great time already, laughing and fooling around in line for the first roller coaster you approach.

You are talking about the weirdest things: hair color, why pets don't get their fur dyed, a dogs vs. cats debate (which you won), how they find that disgusting dry food good enough to even be edible, and then, you finally end up at the front of the line.

He smiles down at you. "Where do you wanna sit?" Luke asks, putting his bare muscular arm around your shoulders.

"It doesn't really matter to me," you say, pausing, "I think the back goes faster, so we could go there?"

"Yeah sure, [y/n]," he agrees.

When you get into line behind another couple in front of you, the girl turns around and claps her hand over her mouth.

"You- You're Luk- Luke Hemmings!" she whispers loudly. Her boyfriend turns around at this, then raises his eyebrows and smiles.

Luke chuckles. "Yeah I'm Luke." He sounds so friendly, and you wonder how you would be able to stay so positive with people recognizing you everywhere. He's a miracle. He loves everyone.

"Could- Could I get a picture?" she says louder, but still hesitantly.

"Of course", he chuckles again, then steps up next to her and bends down, awaiting her to pull out her phone, because he's so freaking tall.

When she gets her phone ready to take the selfie, Luke smiles a closed-mouth smile, which clearly shows off his dimple. And for the next one, he kisses her cheek. Just after the second picture, the roller coaster train arrives.

"It was nice meeting you", he says, while the gates open for her to board to car.

"You too, Luke!" she calls back, then smiles and waves at you, which you return.

When the train leaves, you smile and shake your head at Luke.

"What?" he laughs, poking you in the stomach.

You giggle and flinch but then say, "I don't know how you do it."

"Do what?"

"You're just so positive with your fans. I feel like I wouldn't be able to do that."

"I didn't think I would be able to either when we toured with Hot Chelle Rae, but I surprised myself. They make me happy, they make us who we are. I couldn't stop loving them even if I tried."

You smile a real grin at Luke and he smiles back down at you. Right then, a second train appears and the gates open. Luke allows you across first, and then sits himself in the seat next to you.

A recorded voice quickly goes through safety violations and other stuff like that while attendants check everyone's restraints. And then, finally, the train starts moving, and you are a mess of smiles and excitement.

The roller coaster loops and corkscrews and turns sharply and drops and the whole time you and Luke are screaming and laughing.

When it comes to a stop, you and Luke unbuckle yourselves and get off at the platform. You take one look and him and burst into a fit of laughter. His hair is flattened against his head from the force of the wind, and he frantically tries to quiff it once again.

The rest of the day goes on like that: stupid conversations, fans, laughing, fans, getting food, fans, roller coasters, fans. But you soon adjust to the attention and are friendly with them.

The end of the day comes closer, and both of you are tired but still in high energy.

"Oh my god I'm so hungry," you complain.

"Me too," Luke responds. "Wanna get pizza?"

You smile widely. "YES!"

Both of you walk up to a small building that advertises junk food and Luke orders two slices of cheese pizza slices with two cups of your favorite soda. You reach into your pocket to pay for the food, but Luke beats you.

"Luke! I could've paid, you already paid for lunch and cotton candy earlier."

"Oh, come on, [y/n]. I'm the guy, I feel obligated to pay," he says, holding the two paper plates while you grab the sodas.

"Yeah, well you already paid," you repeat, then give him the money you wanted to pay. "And I don't want this to be some double standard shit you're pulling on me."

"No, [y/n], it's fine, really," he chuckles. You roll your eyes and plan to leave it in his car later tonight.

You two eat your pizza, which happens to be amazing, and throw away your trash afterwards. Just then you notice that the stars are already out and everything is fluorescently lit up. You smile and savor the beauty of the amusement park. A sudden thought strikes your mind.

"Let's go on the Ferris wheel!" you exclaim.

"I thought you hated Ferris wheels?" Luke asks.

"I do. They're slow and annoying but I want to go on anyway."

He gives you a strange look, but then laughs and agrees.

As you walk down the cobblestone street, you notice you're holding Luke's hand. Questions flood your mind. How long have you been holding his hand? Has it been this way all day? Did he grab your hand? Did you grab his? Does he realize it? Does he even want to hold hands? But before you can decide whether you want to ask him any of these, you arrive at the entrance of the Ferris wheel.

The attendant at the front checks that you are each wearing a wristband and allows you to continue into the line.

The line is short. Only some parents with their children and an elderly couple. After wondering what in the world an elderly couple could possibly want to do in a loud, dirty amusement park, you smile. The old couple is cute, and you find yourself wanting that to be you and Luke some day. He is watching you watch them, and smiles to himself, too.

Finally, all the people in front of you start moving as the Ferris wheel picks people up and drops more off. When you and Luke get on, you both sit on one side of the cart.

The cart starts moving upwards and you and Luke peer over the neon lit park. He seems nervous. Really, really nervous.

After a few minutes of on and off stopping, you ask, "Luke... are you afraid of heights?"

"No. I'm not," he responds. You raise an eyebrow at him. "I swear! I'm just... slightly nervous, is all."

"And why are you 'slightly nervous'?" you ask. By now your cart has reached the top of the Ferris wheel.

He fidgets with the bottom of his t-shirt and sighs. "Because... well... er... will you... will you be my girlfriend, [y/n]?"

You just sit there, with your mouth left open, soon realizing how rude you look.

There's a pause.

"[y/n]-"

"Luke-"

You both stop. Then Luke says,"[y/n], it's okay. If you want, we can just stay friends, like we always have, and pretend this didn't happen."

"No! No, Luke I would love to be your girlfriend. I really would."

He smiles and puts his arm around you. You rest your head on his shoulder, and his head on yours. And you sit like that for the rest of the way down, then you get off and start walking towards the exit of the amusement park, hand in hand.
