The room was filled with smoke. The only thing visible was a dark figure in the middle of the room.

A person. If you could call it that.

They sat in a stool, their eyes covered with bandages and body draped in black clothing. Long, tangled hair covered their face. They were lifeless except for the way their spidery limbs twitched, static shocks of electricity erupting from its body sporadically.

"Stay back," Hongseok said. "It could strike at any moment."

Changgu stared perplexed at the figure and how its motionless contradicted Hongseok's words.

The moment Hongseok took a step forward though, it became clear.

The figure raised its arm, clearing all the smoke and revealing an intricate pattern of red strings cutting across the room like lasers and blocking their way.

It's just string, Hongseok thought, remembering Jinho's words. He roughly pushed the strings in front of him away and continued to rush ahead to the figure while taking out his rifle, uncaring of the web he was breaking.

Changgu could feel something in the room, a pulse of rage. He tried to say something about it, but never got the chance to.

A string that Hongseok was about to move out of the way by his side suddenly wrapped around his wrist and pulled his arm back, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the floor.

Hongseok watched as the the concrete under him morphed into an old, faintly blood-stained rug. He lifted his head and saw the black walls fade to familiar wooden ones.

Hongseok was suddenly in his childhood room.

And he could hear footsteps approaching.

The sound paralyzed him. He wasn't a kid anymore, but he felt small all over again. His breathing got shallower and shallower. It felt like there was a lump in his throat. He knew what happened next, what happened every time. He would find him, only getting angrier that he didn't show himself after calling his name-

"Hongseok!"

That wasn't his name.

"Hongseok!" He blinked and his room disappeared.

Hongseok felt Changgu's arms around his waist.

He looked down and saw Changgu's head buried into his back, his eyes squeezed shut. He looked up and saw that the figure had poised a string wrapped around his neck - nearly succeeding at choking him - but was now frozen, trapped in a ring of icy light that Changgu was completely unaware shined off of him.

Hongseok released himself from the red string, taking his rifle out.

He shot the figure down.

A life for a life.

Changgu opened his eyes at the vengeful voice he heard and Hongseok didn't, the latter showing no reaction besides watching a pool of blood flow from the corpse on the ground.
