Tutor nudged Sai Fah with his elbow.
But that did not even make his tall friend flinch. His gaze was locked in a battle of dominance from the shorter Zon who was seated several benches away from they were.
"Sai," Tutor admonished, "Stop staring at him and stop fighting," the gentle mannered Tutor said, pointing at Zon while observing Sai Fah's intent stare.
The tall guy looked at his friend beside him, annoyance in his face.
"Ai Tor," he said, "Your friend is annoying, gesturing with a nod toward's Zon's direction.
"What has he done to you?" Tutor asked.
"You do know what he has done," Sai Fah scoffed, "About why I'm annoyed at him?"
"Are you sure its about that and that is the only reason?" Tutor continued, "Why do you have to hate him so much?"
Day, looking from one to the other added to the conversation, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot that Zon was the one who interrupted you while you were..." his hand making some obscene gestures.
"Alright I get it," Tutor cut Day off before he could finish his sentence."
"You know what I meant?"
"Of course," Tutor replied, looking at Day with a pensive look, "But, had I been Zon, I would do that too."
Sai Fah gave an audible sigh.
"I didn't do anything bad," he stressed, "But, the girl approached me and made a move and I just went with what she had in mind,"
Day, grinned and gave a thumbs up.
Tutor's expression was unreadable.
"It was not my intention to do that," Sai Fah continued, giving Day more reason to grin.
"What a gentleman," Day said, sarcastically, "So, the point is, Zon saw you and then interrupted you, right?"
"No one ended with the girl anyway," Tutor, playing devils advocate said, "Right?"
Sai Fah looked at Tutor and could not keep eye contact.
"Be straight be me, Sai Fah," Tutor added, "Is there anything more than that?"
"I'll bet there is," Day supported Tutor's theory with some finger pointing.
Their friend brushed it all off..
"There is nothing," Sai said, "You guys are thinking way too much."
"You're hiding something from us now," Tutor, observant as always demanded.
Uncomfortable in his seat, Saifah muttered, "That's the truth," looking at the table in front of him.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," the man in the hot seat said before a shrill voice called out getting everyone's attention.
"Tor!" came the female voice.
Glancing at the direction from where the voice came from, the boys saw the shapely figure of one of their friends, Hwahwa, closer to Tutor than the other two was sashaying across the aisle, flipping her staight black hair with one hand and grabbing the attention of all males in the cafeteria. She was a sight to behold. Pretty and confident that Day gulped and Junior at the other table almost choked on the water that he was about to drink, dribbling the liquid across his uniform. Tutor only smiled in welcome.
Hwahwa sat beside Tutor with a smile on her face.
"Can I sit here with you guys?" she asked.
"Yep," Tutor answered, making the girl smile all the more; if that was even possible.
"Oh, Hwa," Tutor was a little perplexed, "I remember that we were supposed to meet around 1 pm, why are you here so early?"
Hwahwa's countenance became a little guarded before she answered, "I didn't arrive here early," she explained, "I just..." her voice trailed off as she glanced toward the direction from where she came from. "...wanted to tell you that..." she meekly continued. But Tutor already saw, a senior was striding straight to their table, his eyes intently looking at them.
"You just came to tell me that you couldn't eat with me like we planned," Tutor said, turning his head to face his childhood friend.
Hwahwa's smiling face melted into an indecisive frown, even while the newcomer stood behind her and placed his hand on her back.
"I knew it," Tutor continued, his voice dispirited.
Fighter, the guy who just came scoffed and heaved a huge sigh.
Hwahwa was crestfallen, her eyes brimming with tears that she was fighting back.
"Hwa," Tutor saw the look on her face, "Why the long face?"
"I'm afraid you might get mad at me," the girl's voice was quivering.
"Have I ever been angry at you?" Tutor said, plastering a smile on his face.
"Never."
"So, dont be sad, I am not mad at you," Tutor said, making an effort to ease his friend's discomfort.
Hwahwa smiled, reached for Tutor's arm and gave it a squeeze.
"Can we go now?" Fighter suddenly said from behind them.
Tutor, a look of irritation on his face glanced at the person behind. Oblivious to the stare, Hwahwa just said, her voice no longer stressed, "Well then, I have to go now."
"Ummm," Tutor mumbled.
"Bye bye," Hwa said, waving her hand to the rest of those seated and left with Fighter.
The three boys followed the two as they left before Sai Fah turned to face Tutor and stated the obvious, "You see Tutor?, " the tall man mocked, "You keep on blaming me but it's all the same for you and Fighter."
"Yes," Day suddenly realized, "Just when will you and P'FIght get back into each other's good graces?"
"Never," Tutor was adamant.
"Stubborn," Said said, "As always."
Tutor looked toward the direction where both Fighter and Hwahwa disappeared to and he thought back to the day when he first met the senior.
