He extends his arm out for me to shake his hand but i'm hesitant. I don't know this man, he broke into my house as well too, did he not? After a few seconds of holding his hand out, he clears his throat and scratches the back of his neck."This is awkward.." he says and runs his hand through his silky black hair.
"Who are you?" I ask again.
"I just told you, your knight in shining armor"
I furrow my brows, "seriously. How did you even get inside, how did you know someone was breaking into my house. I mean, you just did the same thing, you broke in too" I bombard him with many questions and he slightly smiles.
He takes a deep breath in before speaking, "well..I live next door. I was minding my own business and saw through my window that some man was sneaking around your house. So, I decided to take action and came here to make sure you were safe. I came in through the front door actually, I uh... I picked your lock..." he speaks quietly at the last sentence and doesn't look me in the eyes.
"You live next door? Since when?"
"Since...three days ago?"
"What happened to the guy that broke into my house?"
The tall fit man scratches his head, "well..you don't need to worry about him. I got it all covered."
"What do you mean you got it covered"
He takes a step forward and I back up, hitting my back against the shelves that held all the food.
"I had some friends take care of him. Don't worry, we didn't kill him. We're sending him to the police station alright. They came in through your front door and took the man away. They're on their way to the station right now" he explains and puts his hands in his pockets.
He walks out of the pantry that we were both in and holds the door open for me. I walk out cautiously and he watches my every move.
He lightly chuckles, "princess, i'm not going to hurt you. Relax" he closes the pantry door and walks towards the front door.
"I have to go now, but it was nice meeting you." He smiles and opens the front door taking a step outside my porch. Before he walks any further, he turns around and looks at me.
"You might want to get your lock fixed, I might've...broken it" he quickly runs into his car and drives off. I close my door and try to lock it but I can't. It really is broken. I grabbed a chair and put it under the door knob, slanted. Hoping that it'll be enough for the night.
The next morning, actually, it was the afternoon. I slept in and it felt good to sleep in. I get ready for the day and head downstairs to make myself breakfast. I didn't really make myself a proper breakfast, I just made cereal. After eating my bowl of cereal, it comes to my mind that my door knob is broken. I quickly go check the living room and the chair is missing from the knob. I notice that the door is locked and I walk over to unlock it. It unlocked and I was able to lock it again. Somebody had fixed my door knob and I have a feeling who might've fixed it.
I go back to eating my cereal in the kitchen and once I'm finished, I grab my things and leave my house. I had some errands to run and since I took a week off work, I might as well get them done now right?
Before I could unlock my car, I hear a familiar voice, "where are you going?"
I turn around and face the tall black haired man walking my way. He's wearing a white v-neck t shirt that fitted perfectly on his body and black ripped jeans with white converse on. I haven't seen him in broad daylight but damn, god really has a favorite. This man was extremely handsome. He smirks when he notices me staring.
I clear my throat and push some of my hair behind my ear, "running some errands" I answer.
He stops in front of me just a few inches away."How's your door knob?" He asks and has a slight smile on his face.
"You fixed it didn't you?"
He shrugs, giving me no answer.
"Did you or did you not?"
"And what if I did?" He puts his hands in his pockets.
"Then thank you." I unlock my car and get inside the drivers side. The muscular man leans one arm on top of my car and leans forward towards the window. I open my window and he leans in closer.
"Be safe" he smiles, backing away and running his hand through his hair. He watches me drive away and I swear I was holding my breath from the close proximity. I need to stay away from him. This isn't good. I shake the thought of him out of my head and turn on the radio. A podcast was playing and I decided to listen to it since I wasn't in the mood for music.
"And you think you love him? You enjoy your time with him?" The male voice asks.
"Yes. I was with my ex for about 5 years and it was toxic honestly. I loved him a lot, I was too blind to see that he wasn't good for me. But being with someone for 6 months, that is nothing compared to how I felt in my 4 year relationship. Time means nothing. A person in 3 months can make you feel what a person in 3 years couldn't. Again, time means nothing, character means something" The female voice answers.
The conversation continues on and it really made me think of my own relationship. I've been married to my husband for a good 2 years. Things get comfortable and sometimes the spark isn't there anymore. Especially if the other person isn't trying to get that spark to spark again. If they're not putting in the same amount of effort you are, what are you doing? What am I doing?
