Chapter 7

Ildra Farvin was currently standing in front of the Lumos Mansion, shock etched in her mind.

"Welcome, my lady. My name is Midas." the butler respectfully greeted as he bowed before her.

The butler lifted his head showing a smile on his face. Although, he was happy that his lord had thought to send a more capable person to deal with Lumos, he hadn't expected the capable person to be a twelve year old girl.

"Midas, have you ever been to the main mansion?" Ildra asked, getting straight to the point.

"No, my lady. Unfortunately, I have never," Midas sighed. Maybe if he had gone to the main mansion at least once to beg for a more capable person to take over, then maybe his lord wouldn't have resorted to sending a young girl over.

Meanwhile Ildra pondered whether or not to mention to Midas about how the tattered main mansion paled in comparison to the Lumos Mansion. Ildra quickly snuck a glance at the butler in front of her. She could make out the worry dotting his aged face. She quickly forgot the idea. If she mentioned this to him, the old man might keel over.

The butler quickly cleared the worry from his face. His lady was still standing outside the manor. Whether she was capable for this position could be determined later.

"How rude of me to keep you waiting. Please follow me inside, my lady," Midas gestured with his arm. Ildra naturally followed after him.

"Duke Castiel didn't give me much information before sending me here. So, I'll have to trouble you for more information about Lumos. Also, were you the one who was in charge of Lumos before?" Ildra inquired.

With every word that came out of Ildra's mouth, Midas' opinion of her became lower and lower. Midas blinked in disbelief. She came uninformed? What was she trying to do here?

"Yes, my lady. I was the one in charge before," Midas truthfully and politely answered, pushing his thoughts to the back of his mind.

"That's even better. After I get some rest, please meet me in the study. We will discuss the problems in the fief."

Ildra could sense a little bit of animosity from Midas. So, she added on a 'please' to soften the order. She didn't quite blame Midas for his emotions. It was understandable. To hand over the work you've done for a very long time over to a twelve year old girl must be infuriating. She wasn't even a devil either. She was a human. So, she didn't blame him.

After thanking the butler for showing her the way into her room, Ildra sat on the luxurious bed, lost in thought. Meanwhile, Wendy was busy drawing up a bath for her mistress.

'I have to come up with a plan for the coming days.'

Right now her work ability was not that good. She needed to come up with a schedule that would both be productive and not tire her out. Fainting again would not help her in any way.

'I also need Midas on my side.'

Getting along well with the butler would win all the servants over. This would make her work a hundred times easier.

Ildra was so lost in her thoughts that neither did she hear the knock on her door nor Wendy's frantic voice.

"Princess? Are you alright?!" Wendy cried.

Wendy had been filling up the bathtub with water, while her mistress was resting on the soft bed. She had heard a loud knock on the door. She waited for her mistress' childish but mature voice. But it didn't come.

Naturally, Wendy started panicking. Her mistress had already fainted once. She was afraid that her mistress had fainted again. So, she had rushed out.
