Y/N POV

The guy I was assuming was her boyfriend was standing in the kitchen.

This was awkward. I felt angry seeing him here. I remember exactly what Courtney and Ariana had told me about him.

I looked over to her, she seemed just as shocked to see him here as I was.

And he seemed confused to see me here.

"Who's this?" he said pointing to me but looked at Ariana.

I couldn't help myself.

"First of all, 'hello'. Second, you do realise I can understand English, so you can ask me directly, buddy." I told him standing up.

I guess I caught him unaware as his demeanour totally changed.

"My name is Y/N. I'm a friend of Ariana's and she very kindly invited me over to her place for lunch as I was feeling very rough from the night before. We went to the same party together." I half-lied. I don't think he needed to know that I slept over.

Ariana seemed really grateful for me lying to him - or, leaving some bits out.

"Ah I see. Don't think she ever mentioned you though." There was a short moment of silence before he started talking again. "Why weren't you picking up your phone? I was worried." He said turning his attention back to Ariana.

"Oh now you worry." She scoffed at what he had just said.

"Please don't do this in front of your friend here." He talked about me like I wasn't in the room again. I rolled my eyes.

"Pete, look, she got home safe. I saw her leave the party alone. She's fine. Just nursing a really bad hangover so I don't think she needs all this questioning." I interfered yet again. This man was driving me up the fucking wall.

"I didn't ask you." He simply said, not breaking eye contact with Ariana.

"Pete. I think you should go. I don't want to do this now." Ariana said above a whisper; closing her eyes and shaking her head as she did.

Pete looked at his feet in defeat.

"Fine, but I'll come around again later. I want to work this out baby. I want us to work. I don't want to break our engagement over something we can fix." He said making his way over to her and going in for a hug.

Engagement? She was fucking engaged?

Ariana gave me a panicked look as she had realised I caught on to what he had just said.

I was falling for a woman who was engaged. Shit I couldn't do this to either of them. It was my turn to lower my head in defeat. More like to hide my hurt from Ariana.

"I'm serious Pete." She said. I think she pushed him away because I heard a quick groan in displeasure and as I quickly glanced up, my thoughts were confirmed. He was now backing away from her and turning to exit her house.

"See you later baby. I love you." He said before making his way back to the front door, totally ignoring me once again. I really did not care.

There was a long moment of silence in between the both of us.

"I think I should go now." I said, feeling totally stupid of having been stuck in this position.

"Y/N..." she started in a pleading voice.

"No, you know, it doesn't matter. I met you yesterday at a party where we were both drunk. You're someone I don't know and you're engaged to be married and I should be of no importance. I had fun and thank you for taking care of me. But I'm going to go home now. I need a shower and I need to sleep." I took out my wallet from my jacket that was on the sofa, still there from the night before, and placed a 20 on the counter. "Here I hope this covers the food."
