"Did I do good, Taetae?" A broken voice whispered.

Taehyung froze, the world around him slowing down and fading away, there were no drugs, no gunshots, no blood, no sound...nothing. Just him and Jimin wrapped up in each other's eyes; one filled with sorrow, the other's with acceptance. A simple, ordinary question broke Taehyung's heart into a thousand pieces. The pieces fell as he sat there, absorbing the question; the pieces pierced his weakened soul. Even at the end, Jimin was still searching for an answer to that damned question. Shouldn't he know he had always done good? That he was always there for others, always mastering the art of dancing, always shedding light unto the dark?

Jimin softly smiled, using his last bit of energy to wipe away that lone tear which had escaped Taehyung's doe eyes that he didn't realize came out till now. The delicate touch did nothing but break the dam, allowing the rest of the tears to spill down his face. Jimin didn't bother fighting those. He didn't bother fighting at all, he was so exhausted from the long conflict he had endured. Taehyung thought of how much Jimin went through and how strong he was, Taehyung prayed with all his might that wherever Jimin went after this that he would find peace from all the questions and suffering.

In return, Taehyung raised up a shaky hand to wipe Jimin's bangs that were decorated with dry, sticky blood, from his eyes. Yearning for a better gaze at those soft eyes one last time. One of the many things he loved about Jimin was how his eyes seem to give a sense of tranquility. How they would soften up and allow Taehyung to fall into them feeling safe and at home. One of his favorite moments in life was just staring into the depths of the soft brown; getting lost in them and forgetting the world.

"Y-yeah, Chim," His soft reply, interrupted with a broken sob. The blonde flashed a wobbly smile back at his companion lying in his arms. The same arms which cuddled the tiny dancer through all his highs and lows. Through the warm glow after their bodies connected in an intimate dance. Through the long nights after a concert. Through the lonely, cold nights when the demon would sing a dark tune, Taehyung had held the older with such love and care. When was the last time they had cuddled? It goes to show how little Taehyung fought to save Jimin, to be his umbrella when the rain got too much, to dive in the depths of cold water when he was drowning. The thought alone unleashed another wave of tears, drowning the sight of Jimin smiling up at him.

"Stop," Jimin hiccuped. The dark, rose colored liquid spilled from the corner of his mouth, racing down his milky skin to slam against the cold ground. "You've done enough." He always knew what went on in Taehyung's chaotic mess of a head. He always knew.

Taehyung shut his eyes, choking on another sob. "You were... always amazing." The blonde whispered gently. He wanted to say more... please stay and don't go. Don't leave me yet. But, one look at the puddle of the thick, dark liquid oozing out of the wound etched in his chest, the singer knew he couldn't do more but make Jimin comfortable. They both knew it was futile to fight now... so why waste borrowed time? Taehyung could scream to the heavens way up high, to the members surrounding him, to life, to himself, to Jimin to please stay by his side and not leave, but he just couldn't do that. Not this time. A wail so raw ripped out of his mouth as his mind was accepting this, but his heart was breaking apart.

"Thank you..." Just another simple saying had Taehyung stopping his anguish cries and gasping for air. Looking back into Jimin's eyes, Taehyung saw how they glazed over with unshed tears and a smile so big it would have everyone falling in love. The silver-haired boy fought this question for so long, always brushing it off and not believing in the words. Perhaps the statement was closure for Jimin. Perhaps without the chains binding him to his demons, Jimin could finally see past the negative thoughts and finally accept it.

Taehyung wanted to laugh and scream at how unfair life was being right now. He had to die just to destroy the demon and accept what has been true all this time? How was this right? How was any of this right?

"We killed Him. It's over," However, Taehyung didn't scream just softly whispered.

"We did." Jimin huffed out a laugh as the lights in his eyes were dimming. Taehyung desperately wanted to protect the light, it was the only light that kept the dark at bay. Not even the sun was a match for it.

Him. Not the guy laying a few feet away decorated in his own crimson blood. The demon who resided in Jimin's head. The fiend that had forced the sun to set. Taehyung would be jumping for joy if it weren't for the blood seeping through his sleeves, reminding him of what he had lost. "No more suffering." Taehyung wheezed, it was a fruitless battle between letting him go and wanting him to stay, but Taehyung couldn't resist the urge to share his desperation through his tight hold. The tiny dancer couldn't go. Not yet. Please.

The blonde knew he had no power to fight death.

Jimins' gaze momentarily danced around, no doubt looking at the other members that surrounded them, taking in each expression for what seemed to be, the last time before landing back on his eyes. "I love you," He whispered. The world began moving again, but it was slow and distant, the sirens broke the quiet in the background. The heavy stench of blood drifted into the air, surrounding the huddled group as if it was drawing them back to reality. The last grains of sand fell in the hourglass. Jimins' shallow breaths, louder than any siren, rung in Taehyung's ears.

A shaky smile from above. A soft gurgle from below. Light faded away.

Then...nothing.

Only the silent, soft snow falling around them.

Where there was light became shadows.

Tears glistened in the dark. A ghost of soft goodbyes and 'I love you's.

The dove breaking free from the damaged cage.

The sirens getting louder.

"You were amazing, Jimin."
