****2 year later***

I sighed and leaned back on my bed, relaxing. I tried to tune out all the noise, but the first week of move in day is usually the loudest. I remember someone telling me that last year. When I got here over a year ago, I was able to start in the spring semester, there was a little bit of noise then, but that was nothing compared to my first fall semester that had followed. Like today, it had started off normal.

Then the freshman arrived.

I looked over at my clock and saw that it was lunch time, something I didn't quite feel like dealing with as the hall would be packed with new comers and their parents, not to mention what Cafe 84 would look like. I don't think I could take on that crowd. Getting up from the bed, I went to the window and peaked out, looking down 15 floors to the ground. Webb Tower is one of the biggest apartments on campus, and I was lucky enough to get a top floor room, and the single suite.

Looking down, I could see all the new students bustling about, though most of the ones who have been here for a year or two like me, they were hard to point out as most of them were probably in the safety of their room. I definitely didn't want to have to fight through that to get to any source of food.

My stomach grumbled in protest and I looked towards my door, knowing that I didn't have any food in the fridge since I hadn't gone yesterday.

Bad move on my part.

Though, in my defense, I had just gotten back from summer break, and it was almost eight last night when I finished unpacking again. I was also lucky enough to get the same apartment I had applied for last year, though I doubt luck had anything to do with it. I walked across the room and grabbed my grey beanie before walking out, passing my two roommates who were sitting on the couch playing Super Smash Brothers.

I waved briefly before heading out, though I doubt that they noticed with how intently they were shouting at each other and the screen. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and made my way down the hall, glad that my floor didn't have too many rooms available this year. It meant less noise on this floor. But that didn't matter for the rooms below, sound seemed to really travel easy during move in week. When I got to the elevators, I pressed the button and crossed my fingers that it was already here or on a floor close to me. Though after waiting for five minutes already, I knew I was going to be in for some major traffic.

After waiting another minute, I decided that the best rout for now was the stairs. Everyone used these stairs to go down as they didn't set off any alarms and were faster most of the time than waiting for the elevator. And the perk of it right now was no freshman or their parents would be bumping into my path here. Now, going up was a different story. If you planned on running back to your room for a paper you left on your desk, you better hope that class isn't over by the time it gets to the bottom floor.

Okay, that's a slight exaggeration

But the really sucky part was that the stairs were locked so that you could't go up them, which meant we had to take the elevator (which hopefully wasn't already being used as there were only two of them).

When I reached the bottom, I carefully opened the door as to make sure I didn't bump and passerby's or someone unfortunate enough to be standing in front of the door. When it didn't hit anyone, I made my way out then carefully started to maneuver around the stray luggage and people who didn't know where the heck they were supposed to be going. Though, outside didn't seem that much like a cakewalk either.
