Fire Doesn't Burn

Our eyes were locked together as I stared from the tree line.

I could sense her fear and a big part of me wanted to comfort her but at the same time run from her.

I knew instantly as I was making my rounds in the woods that something would happen.

Never could I have imagined I would find a Fire Warrior.

They were known to be extinct, all the elemental warriors were.

Our world has been dying off slowly with most warriors gone and only guardians remaining.

But without our warriors us guardians can't access the power we were supposed to have.

I know.

I know she is my warrior but I can sense her feelings of frustration and confusion.

She doesn't understand but I will teach her, guide her, and guard her through this.

She might be our last hope

Fear spreads through me and I know it's from her.

Guardians can sense feelings and speak telepathically to their warriors explaining the fear coursing through my veins

Confusion hits me though because it's rare that male guardians are paired with female warriors.

Most pairings are that of the same gender making this situation more odd.

I look away feeling my eyes turn back to there normal shade of blue.

This would take time which was frustrating however she doesn't know what's going on.

I stand from my position to head back to the community house

The Council might know what to do

Till then I will keep my distance but keep an eye out

Walking up towards our community house I was nervous

It had been so many years since a warrior was discovered

My hands were sweaty and shaky as I walked down the hall to the council room

I barge in not bothering to knock shocking most the council in doing so

Glares are sent my way as the head of council stands

"Cole, is everything alright?"

"I uh I-I think I found a fire warrior"

Their faces fall into a shocked state as they look to Dustin

Dustin was our head of council because he was a Sight and one of the last few. I knew they didn't believe me but maybe Dustin would.

"Dustin look into my head you'll see"

He hesitantly walks towards me matching my height as he stops in front of me.

His eyes turn white as he looks into mine

My head clouds and my muscles tense as I can feel the burning sensation throughout my body

I can feel my eyes turning bright orange as I hear gasps around the room but I can't see anything but her and the wreck

Suddenly I'm pulled back to reality as my eyes turn back to blue and Dustin takes a step back

He turns slowly to the council and barely whispers " It's true.."

Whispers fill the room as Dustin slowly takes his seat

Some are excited, some are scared, some are confused

Voices start to rise and my head starts throbbing from all the confusion

"SILENCE!!!"

We all look towards Dustin shocked by his stern tone

"No one will speak a word of this till we can figure out how to handle it. Is that clear?"

Everyone silently nods

"Cole stay, everyone else please leave with your mouths shut"

After the room is clear Dustin motions for me to take a seat

He leaves coming back from his office with a older book

He is quiet as he flips through the pages till he stops

I look at the page he is on

The image is of two people a guardian and a warrior unlike no other

"Serenia" He states

"She was beautiful with her abilities one of the most unique warriors we have ever known" his voice trailed off

"What happened" I ask, curiosity getting the best of me

"She and her guardian discovered something dark on a mission. They awoke a spirt, a dark one who killed the good in them both filling them with rage and vengeance"

"He twisted there minds starting a war unlike one we've ever seen"

"The Last War" I state my jaw clenched.

We've all heard stories of the Last War but it never seemed true being such a violent and long war.

Dustin looks up to me and continues

"Serenia has the full ability of two elements and her guardian Jake to heal her, she has a power unlike any other. This power overtook the warriors ending them all till now."

Silence falls between us as he flips the page

"Since then what's left of the Sights were told one day elemental warriors, half and full would rise back against her and her army to defeat the evil within"

"The girl I saw, my warrior, she's the start of it isn't she,"I say trying to relax my tense muscles

"I don't know, but we must keep quiet Serenia has been hiding throughout the years but she has eyes and ears everywhere"

I need to get to my warrior the more she discovers her abilities the more she is at risk for Serenia finding her

Dustin stands "We will start training tomorrow  this attack could happen anytime and until we find more warriors we are vulnerable"

He stands and heads towards the door but stops briefly " Find her Cole and gain her trust right now she may be all we have" then he turns and leaves
