AN: So I'm sorta editing this and this is my first book so it is CRINGEY. I didn't really take this book seriously so beware lmao.
I sat under the blistering sun as the burning hot, metal bleachers touched the bottom of my theighs. I cheered, like almost everyone around me, as Phillip's team was winning. After a few more minutes, the game was over. I ran down to him and tried to give him a hug but he pulled away. "Whats wrong?" I asked. "Im all dirty." He said observing all the dirt on him, and chuckled a little bit. I just laughed. "I dont care." I said as we hugged. We held hands as we caught up with the rest of the team. "So where are we going to celebrate?" I asked. "Me and the boys were thinking the ice cream parlor." He said smiling. I smiled. "Good cause ive been craving ice cream all day." I said. We both laughed.
We arrived at the ice cream parlor and everyone started to pull their wallets out when Phillips stopped us. "It's all on me guys!" He said and everyone cheered. After we got our ice cream, we all sat down at a couple of picnic tables. I sat on the seat of a picnic table, while Phillips sat on the actual table. "So what are you doing tomorrow?" He asked. I sighed. "I have to dog sit some big slobbery dog." I said, annoyed. "That sucks, I wanted to go to the pool tomorrow. And I was thinking after I could teach you how to play ball." He said taking a bite of his ice cream. "I've already told you, my dad taught me to play when I was little. I don't need you to teach me." I said. It was true. When I was little, my dad taught me and my siblings how to play baseball. I was about 7 years old. Both of my brothers learned how to play too, also when they were 7. "Ha!" I heard one of his friends say. I showed a confused expression. "Your serious?" He said pointing at me. I nodded. Then he busted out laughing. "What's so funny I don't understand." I said. Phillips just put his face in his hands. Then I saw one of his friends point across the street at Vincent's Drug Store. I quickly turned and so did everyone else.
"Hey! There goes Rodriguez and his crappy little team of babies!" One of the guys yelled. They quickly looked over our way. Everyone was laughing except me. I could see a tall, tan boy look over here and roll his eyes. Then we made eye contact. I quickly looked away. I saw Phillips look at me, then at that boy. After a little while of finishing our ice creams, we all decided to go home. Me and Phillips biked down to my house as soon as everyone else went home. "Well I'll see you later." I said kissing him on the cheek as I parked my bike by my porch. He waved.
*The next day*
I woke up and got ready for the day. As I walked down the hall, I stopped in front of Wendy's room. The door was open. I saw her doing her makeup at her vanity. Then she noticed me and smiled. "Hey Darla!" She said. I smiled and crossed my arms. "You really need to paint your room a different color, I am now blind thanks to you." I said and we just laughed. I was right though. Her room is a hot pink color, no mam! "Girls! Breakfast!" We heard our mom call. We walked downstairs to see Jack, my older brother by one year, already shoving the pancakes down his throat. "Slow down Jack, thats disgusting." Wendy said with a disgusted look. By the time she said that I was already shoving food down my throat as well. She looked at me and a small piece of pancake fell from my mouth since there was so much in my mouth. She just rolled her eyes and started to eat her pancakes. After breakfast we all went to go do our 'activities'. Jack went down the street to go play baseball with his friends, Wendy went to the pool because she was the lifeguard, and instead of hanging out with Phillips and his friends, im stuck dog sitting a dog. A big, slobbery dog.
