Chapter 5

CONNER

 The first thing I think as I wake up is "why is twin telepathy a thing?"I mean it's one thing to have someone barge into your room to wake you up, it's another to have them barge into your mind. I hold my head as Cole yells at me to get up for school. I know it's our first day at the new school but would it kill him to wake me up nicely. I groan as I get up from the bed. I rush through my shower and brush my teeth. After I get dressed and style my hair I go downstairs to scrounge up some breakfast.

Cole is standing at the front door with his arms crossed and a scowl. I look at my phone and blink. We still have 30 minutes to get to a school that is ten minutes away. I look up at him with a pout. " Why'd you wake me up so early?" He gives me a glare "We need to get our schedules and find our classrooms idiot." He turns around and opens the door. Just as I start following him he freezes and I bump into his back. As I look up at him to whine I see the girl I saw next door yesterday with her hand in the air, ready to knock. After a second I feel my lips twitch. She's staring at us. When she sees my smirk she clears her throat and says, "Hi I'm Lilly. I live in the house right next door." Pointing at her house." I saw you moving in yesterday and figured we'd be going to the same school. I thought I should show you guys where the bus stop is." She looks down blushing. In my head Cole asks if this is the girl from yesterday and I say yes. Next thing I know she is looking into my eyes and I hear a click.

 For a second I can't breathe and my face is frozen. As I continue to stare into her eyes I see a flash of disappointment and then it's gone. She gives a small smile but it's strained. I glance at Cole from the corner of my eye. " Did you feel that?" I ask him through telepathy. " Yes, what was that?" He replies. " I don't know but did you see the look of disappointment in her eyes right after it happened?" I ask. " Yeah, she definitely knows something. Let's take her up on her offer. Maybe we can find out what's going on." He says. I look back at the girl, Lilly she said and give her a smile. "Thanks, Lilly was it? We would really appreciate that." When I say her name I can see a small shiver run through her body. " I'm Conner and this is Cole. As you can probably tell we're twins." I continue. I lean around Cole to shake her hand. As we touch I feel tingles shoot up my arm. From the little gasp she makes I'm pretty sure she feels it too. I work hard to keep the smile on my face. I don't know why but I feel like she shouldn't know we feel something from her yet.
