"GOD FUCKING DAMN IT ALL TO HELL." I'd been working on these engines and interfaces for a day now and just when I'm almost done... *slam* I feel my fist start to ache from me slamming in down on the metal frame. "Dude, chill out. You'll get it. Your the best person on the team with the interfaces."

"Piss off Joel."

"Okay crab ass."

Oh Joel. My first love. My best friend. I have no idea how he puts up with me. Ever since I moved in with him and his girlfriend I've lost the love aspect I had for him and now he's just my best friend. It's a shame he won't be coming with me. It's probably for the best though. Joining the resistance is a... Dangerous, choice. Nobody knows where it's really going, so many won't take the risk.

I pull out my interface polization unit and go back to working trying to get these barely functional pieces of shit to work. Suddenly there was a hum of life in the machinery and a quite beeping of the computers doing auto diagnostics. "Oh thank god."

"Told you so shithead!"

"Yeah yeah I know dickwad."

So now to make a test run of this thing. I tap on my interface panel and the move to the conn. As I sit the lights flicker to life and the engine ignition switch cover swings open. I press the superior communications symbol and ask, "Are we ask clear for an ignition?" Suddenly the check list of systems start changing from the, "no go" red to the all clear green. "Great. All hands; hold on tight. This is going to be a bumpy ride. Pilot out."

I flip the switch and hear the loud grabbing if the engine start to flare up. The somatic of the ship does ask systems on yellow status. One by one they all start going to a green status. Finally support goes full green and all auto locked quarenteens get lifted. So, we did it. Now to get to recruiting.

The loud groan of the engines slowly can to a stop as we arrived at the recruitment center on Venus. I already reeked of sweat. I have never been this close to Sol before. The sun my home orbits around has always just been a small spot in the sky. Here though it make up most of the sky. And it makes it hot. On Neptune most of the stations are suspended in the thick atmosphere, but here every is on the ground. There atmosphere is more arid. Ours dens with frozen particals. I know our solar system was divece but I never knew it was so different. I should probably shower and try to look presentable...

"Hey stinky ass."

"Hey Joel."

"You should probably get cleaned up so you don't look like the rest of our people who are recruiting. Give us a good name."

"You can still come with me."

"Nah. I have Cherisese to take care of back home."

"Alright. I'll miss you."

"I won't miss you. I'll just be waiting for your sorry ass to make its way back."

"Your confidence in me is astounding."

"Your smart and attractive. That means you can get anywhere in life."

"Yeah. Sure. Anyway, I have to go get ready. See me before I'm off?"

"Obviously."

And with that I'm off to my quarters. The cold water is incredibly soothing. I'm going to have to get used to the heat. Once I'm out of the shower I walk over to my closet and pull out my nicest clothes. A dirtyish white shirt and a black tattered vest with a pair of jeans that have the heels torn from being walked on.
